Din Djarin and Grogu will not be cruising in the classic ST-70 class Razor Crest for their adventures in The Mandalorian season 3. The Razor Crest was Din’s bread and butter in both seasons of The Mandalorian since it boasted all the features a bounty hunter could want. The spacious cargo bay was perfect for Din’s line of work, though it’s unclear whether the built-in carbonite freezer was a modification of his. Before the Empire, the Razor Crest was built by an unknown manufacturer as a military craft. It was used in assault patrols on the local level before finding its way into Din’s possession.

Early on in The Mandalorian season 1, the Razor Crest was completely stripped for parts by a group of Jawas on Arvala-7. It was also almost completely decimated by white space spiders in The Mandalorian season 2. All in all, Din could never catch a break when it came to his ship. He was forced to both perform and pay for several makeshift repairs for the Razor Crest, so that by The Mandalorian season 2, the ship was hobbling along on its last legs. And since Din largely gave up bounty hunting in favor of returning Grogu to the Jedi, many of the practical features of his ship were left underutilized.

The Mandalorian's Ship Was Destroyed By The Empire In Season 2

The Mandalorian Razor Crest Destroyed

In one of the most shocking twists of The Mandalorian season 2, the Razor Crest was abruptly blown up by the Empire in Chapter 14: "The Tragedy." While on the legendary Jedi planet Tython, Grogu sits atop a seeing stone and tries to reach out to other Force-sensitive beings. But while Din tries to give Grogu time to make a connection, a single blast from Moff Gideon’s cruiser obliterates the Razor Crest. In a moment, Din and Grogu’s home is reduced to nothing but ash and charred metal. The only piece of the ship that Din is able to salvage is the small control ball Grogu loves to play with.

There wasn’t much Din could have done to avoid losing the Razor Crest. When they arrived on Tython, Din told Grogu there was nowhere to land the Razor Crest on the mountain and they’d have to land further down near its base. Since Tython was uninhabited, Din wasn’t expecting anyone to follow them. He left the Razor Crest parked out in the open, which made it an easy target for Moff Gideon’s light cruiser. But despite the heavy loss, Din moved on quickly in order to save Grogu from the clutches of Moff Gideon.

How Din Djarin Got A New Ship (And What Is It?)

The Book of Boba Fett's Naboo N-1 Starfighter

In The Book of Boba Fett, Din had his heart set on getting an identical Razor Crest to his old one. In his mind, it made sense to get another one since he’s returned to his bounty-hunting business. But Peli Motto had different plans for him. Instead of getting him another Razor Crest — or anything remotely like it — she hooked him up with a retrofitted Naboo N-1 starfighter. Given how different from a gunship it is, it took Din a fair amount of time to understand how to handle how fast the N-1 starfighter flies. But now he’s ready for whatever dogfight comes his way in The Mandalorian season 3.
