During its E3 2021 keynote, Razer announced that it's getting ready to sell its Project Hazel face mask. While an exact date still isn't available, the company has made it clear that interested shoppers will soon be able to get their hands on the futuristic face covering.

Face masks have become a common part of daily life since March 2020. They come in various materials and styles, but they typically have little-to-no technology packed into them. Announced this past January at CES, Project Hazel is the exact opposite. Razer's custom face mask has an N95 respirator for safe breathing, a transparent front so wearers' mouths are still visible, sound amplifiers to prevent people from sounding muffled, and even RGB lighting to add a whole lot of flair.

A few months since Project Hazel's unveiling, Razer used its time at E3 to provide a substantial update on where the mask is currently at. For starters, the design of the mask has changed ever-so-slightly. Razer is now using replaceable N95 filters on each side of the mask, making it easy for users to pop in new ones when the current filters wear out. There's also a silicon face seal to provide a more accurate fit, interior lighting so people's faces are still visible at night, and an anti-fog coating that'll prevent the mask from fogging up after prolonged wearing. All of this should allow Project Hazel to be much more functional in real-world use — all without losing the cool factor that made the mask so popular in the first place.

Razer's Face Mask Will Be Available In Early Q4 2021

In addition to design updates, Razer has finally provided a release window to look forward to. Due to "insane demand" Razer is expecting for Project Hazel, the company will be selling the mask in special drops with limited quantities available. The first drop is expected to launch in early Q4 (likely sometime in October or November), and interested shoppers can sign up for it now on Razer's website.

Unfortunately, there's still no word as to how much Project Hazel will cost. Razer mega-fans will likely pick up Project Hazel at any price just to add it to their collection, but if Razer wants the mask to become something that everyday people buy and wear, it needs to keep pricing relatively affordable. Even without a price, however, this is still a good step forward for Project Hazel. The mask was nothing more than an exciting concept at the beginning of the year, and just a few months later, Razer is already talking about quality-of-life updates and shipping plans. That's pretty commendable on Razer's part. Now, it just needs to stick the landing with Project Hazel's price tag.
