Razer is well known by now for creating cutting-edge computer peripherals by and for the PC gaming community, and their products often end up on various “best of the year” lists. The Razer Naga Pro Modular Wireless Mouse is one of their newest mouse models and is likely to become a favorite among gamers for its modularity, customizability, and ergonomic design. The Naga Pro comes with three swappable side plates with fully programmable buttons so whether the player is exploring the world of an MMO, fighting through battle royale, or blasting away the competition in FPS, the mouse can become an intuitive, user-friendly controller.

Each of the side plates has been built to better accommodate gameplay in a variety of genres. The twelve-button numerical plate allows players to access all hotbar items in MMO or other RPGs. The six-button numerical plate was built specifically for battle royale like Fortnite or Spellbreak, giving players quick access to their arsenal of abilities, allowing them to quickly build and search for loot, and providing extra grip to ensure the control. Finally, the two-button panel was designed for FPS games, also granting a larger grip for better control during melee. The two-button plate is also ideal for users simply browsing the web or working from home. Players have full control to program the side plate buttons, as well as the remaining buttons, to their liking.

The customizable side plates are the key feature to the Naga Pro, and despite how many different buttons there are, these plates do not feel cramped or crowded. Using the numerical buttons on the twelve-button plate feels like second nature, and the quick response times make them comparable to, if not faster than, use of a keyboard. It is, however, just a bit more difficult to differentiate between buttons quickly on the twelve-button plate as opposed to the six- and two-button options, which could cause difficulty for players in certain MMO and RPG combat situations. There is a bit of sloping to help players feel out the difference between buttons right next to each other, however.

The Razer Naga Pro has three customizable, swappable side plates

The left and right mouse buttons have been designed with Razer Optical Mouse Switches, meant to be less likely to corrode, take less force to click, and lead to fewer unintended double-clicks. Razer claims this durability will last for up to 70 million clicks, and it is easy to see why. Clicks are clean, controlled, and quick.

Players can download Razer Synapse 3 to fully customize all the buttons on the mouse, including the profile button at the bottom of the device, and can customize the RGB colors and pulsing patterns. Users can save their settings directly to the device as well, allowing them to seamlessly switch from one game configuration to another and control exactly how the mouse operates every time.

The Naga Pro comes with three modes of connection. Users can stick to a traditional connection using the provided USB cord. This also doubles as the mouse’s charger, as players can take their mouse with them on the go and use it wirelessly as well for over 100 hours of gameplay. The Naga Pro uses Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless technology at 2.4 Ghz to ensure a wireless gaming experience that’s just as fast as, if not faster than, a wired connection. Users can also choose to connect via Bluetooth, if preferred. The Naga Pro will work with any Razer Mouse Dock as well.

The Naga Pro is fast and smooth, not just because of its industry-leading DPI, but also because of the mouse feet. These four feet are made from PTFE, the same material used on nonstick pots and pans. This combined with the massive, customizable DPI range leads to quick, smooth movement for situations during which milliseconds can spell the difference between victory and defeat.

The Naga Pro is unfortunately not built for ambidextrous users, which may not make it the best choice for left-handed gamers. Players who have used the Naga Trinity will also not be able to swap plates between the two devices.

The Naga Pro is a worthy successor to the Naga Trinity and is an excellent choice for gamers wanting more customization and more modularity for optimum control over games in every genre.
