Disney releases the Raya and the Last Dragon poster and confirms the movie trailer will be released tomorrow. An upcoming Disney animated film, Raya and the Last Dragon was first announced back in August 2019, and was seen as another way to maintain Disney's in-house animation studio as a formidable contender holding its own against fellow Mouse House-owned studio Pixar and Universal's Illumination. Since then, the film experienced a cast shake-up when Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Kelly Marie Tran was brought on to replace Cassie Steele in voicing the lead role, Raya.

In addition to the teaser poster for the film, which can be seen below, Disney confirmed the first trailer will debut on ABC's Good Morning America tomorrow, Oct. 21. The poster features protagonist Raya, a warrior from the fictional realm of Kumandra, dressed in traditional East Asian garb and holding a thick, steel sword, with her head bowed down. Rain pours down as Raya sports a coy smile, teasing Disney fans to the traditional life-altering, animated adventures that are sure to transpire.

Despite the House of Mouse's recent announcement that it would focus on streaming, Disney CEO Bob Chapek reassured fans that it wouldn't entirely throw out its theatrical slate. That may make Disney Animation - and Raya and the Last Dragon in particular - the ultimate nostalgia dose for when trips to the cinemas can be normalized again.

Taking inspiration from Southeast Asian culture and myths, Raya and the Last Dragon follows warrior Raya as she sets out on a mission to find the mythical last dragon. Awkwafina (The Farewell) voices Sisu, the water dragon, with Crazy Rich Asians scribe Adele Lim co-writing the script.
