Ray Fisher has posted a behind-the-scenes image from the football sequence in Zack Snyder’s Justice League to celebrate the movie’s one-year anniversary on HBO Max. The actor played Victor Stone, a.k.a Cyborg, in the 2017 theatrical cut of the movie, as well as in the 2021 director’s cut. The movie is still currently available to stream on HBO Max.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was the result of a lengthy and contentious fan campaign to get Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League movie. The campaign began after Snyder left the original film and Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the theatrical cut – making significant changes to the story and runtime in the process. One of the major changes in that situation centered around Fisher and his role as Cyborg. The character was given considerably more screentime and narrative importance in the Snyder cut of the movie, and the aforementioned football scene showing Stone before his transformation into Cyborg was re-added to the film after being cut from the theatrical version.

It has officially been one year since the debut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max, and the anniversary has brought out quite a bit of fan support for the film on social media. One individual who has gotten in on the celebration is Ray Fisher, who took to Twitter to post a behind-the-scenes image from the film’s football sequence. Check out the image below.

Ray Fisher’s support for Snyder’s original version of the movie over the theatrical cut is further bolstered by the allegations that came out once Whedon came aboard the project. These allegations included reported incidents of on-set abuse as well as racist conduct by some high-level figures behind the film. This has led to a very public feud with Whedon and the studio, with Fisher and numerous other actors taking to social media to consistently discuss their treatment by Whedon on various projects over the years.

All of this may lead some fans to wonder what the future may hold for Fisher and his version of Cyborg in the DCEU. At one time, he was set to star in his own solo movie (which would’ve already been released had WB stuck with the original plan), and he was also going to play a role in crossover events with other heroes like The Flash. Fisher has remained vocal that he will only play Cyborg again if he receives a formal apology from Warner Bros. regarding his experience working with the studio on Justice League. With the continued absence of such an apology (coupled with the fact that the feud doesn’t seem to be going away), there is no way of knowing if Fisher will ever reprise the role after Zack Snyder's Justice League.
