Rare Candy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is an item that can be fed to any Pokémon, no matter what species it is identified as. This item can be used in place of any Pokémon Candy; for instance, when feeding a Rare Candy to Piplup, the game will treat this Candy as a Piplup Candy.

The advantage of using Rare Candy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the ability to level up certain Pokémon in a quicker manner than the traditional method. In fact, using a Rare Candy on a Pokémon will increase its power by an entire level.

How To Get Rare Candy

Like other games within the Pokémon franchise, Rare Candy spawns randomly across all regions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. There are a total of 60 Rare Candies spread across the entire map. These candies can be found in normal Poké Balls; the only difference is that a pink flame will be surrounding the Poké Ball. Once picked up, the Poké Ball will turn into a Rare Candy. The location of the Poké Balls will be dependent on the player's save locations and time. Additionally, it is important to look in every nook and cranny to find these items; some may be located in places players may not expect them to be.

The second way to obtain Rare Candy is to participate in 6-star Tera Raid Battles. Once a Tera Raid Battle is complete, several randomized items will be dropped. Although it is not guaranteed, players may be able to retrieve a reward that includes Rare Candy. Competing in 6-star Tera Raid Battles during scheduled events is an effective method to acquire many Rare Candies within a short period of time.

The final way to collect Rare Candy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is to participate in battles while enabling the Pickup Ability. This ability allows Pokémon to pick up random items after a battle is won. Note that these items are randomized, so retrieval of Rare Candy is not certain.

Not only does Rare Candy level up Pokémon faster, it also levels up Pokémon for which players may not have the resources. For example, a player may not have enough Piplup Candy to level up Piplup. Instead, a Rare Candy can be used in its place. The use of Rare Candy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet allows players to level up their Pokémon faster, and in turn, battle Gym Leaders faster.
