There's not a great deal of similarities between Ralph Breaks The Internet and Shrek The Third. Strangely enough however they both feature a few scenes that are remarkably close to one another. Each film manages to capture a historical moment in time, where the famous princesses of fairy tale legend team up with one another.

This is a huge moment for fans of these franchises. While Shrek The Third was perhaps much less well-received than the second film in the Wreck It Ralph series, both managed to bring together a combination of famous characters like Snow White and Cinderella in some certainly memorable moments.

Shrek The Third: Spot On Parody

The Shrek films have always worked well as a bit of a parody. Considering the franchise really helped to put DreamWorks on the map, it made sense for the company to set itself apart from the animation giant Walt Disney, by showcasing they are so different.

A parody of some of their most famous characters is a great way to do so. With a Sleeping Beauty that is literally always falling asleep, to a far too positive Snow White, there are some great parodies in here and something Disney would never be able to do.

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Disney Characters

The Disney Princesses represent a great deal about the Walt Disney Company. Their compassion, intelligence and willpower are all qualities that Disney wants in their main protagonists. They are well-established thanks to their own successful films.

There's therefore no way that a parody could really beat the original. These characters are part of film history and while Shrek and Fiona sit alongside them, the knock-off Snow White certainly won't be as remembered as the first version.

Shrek The Third: Paralleled With Fiona

Princess Fiona Shrek

One of the vital components of including these parody princesses in the first place was to be able to compare them to Fiona. The ogre has been the princess of the Shrek franchise and it was interesting to see how to embodies a number of different traits.

However, the movies also didn't shy away from allowing the parody princesses from embracing a more action-packed role. Fiona will always be more of a leader though and has demonstrated across the franchise how she is far from traditional.

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Original Cast

One of the most incredibly special things about bringing these princesses together was that most of them had the returning voice actor from the original movie. That's something that Disney fans had wanted for quite some time.

This casting choice also gives the princesses both familiarity and authenticity that Shrek just couldn't achieve. It's a far more powerful and fun moment when some of those iconic voices are back in the roles they are perhaps most well known for.

Shrek The Third: Expanding The Universe

The Shrek universe is constantly being expanded upon. Presumably, there are characters from every famous fairy tale somewhere in there. However, the addition of the princesses expands that world just a little further.

Back in the original Shrek some of these characters were actually slightly referenced, with even Snow White's dwarves turning up in the Swamp. However, since then the series has grown further to include Ugly Step Sisters. evil moms and the princesses themselves.

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Unique Skills

Disney managed to bring in a unique skill for all the different princesses involved in the video game sequel. Whether it was Moana's water powers, Elsa's icy abilities or even Tiana's connection to a frog, they all had a part to play.

What was even more fun is they managed to do a heroic deed with these crazy abilities and save Ralph, complete with a small section of each of their musical themes being played. It was a crowd-pleasing moment in the cinema and a great piece of Disney history.

Shrek The Third: Hilarious Abilities

Shrek's parody versions of these characters also had some of their own abilities. However, their gifts were a little crazier. In fact, many of their skills were jokes that only DreamWorks really could have gotten away with.

Snow White's power to control wildlife and use them as terrifying attack creatures was certainly a highlight of the sequence. It was also quite surprising to see Sleeping Beauty with such powerful karate moves.

Ralph Breaks The Internet: One Of A Kind Moment

A crossover on this scale will likely never happen again. Fun jokes about other studios and comfy outfits aside, these scenes involving all of the famous princesses together is a moment that fans have wanted for quite some time.

It was only possible due to the video game element of the Wreck It Ralph movies. There are rumors that the characters do exist in the same universe, but it seems impossible to imagine how they would all be brought together again.

Shrek The Third: Casting Dream Team

The Disney iteration of these characters may have some iconic voices behind them, that added to the big crossover, but DreamWorks managed to bring in their own dream team to try and lend their talents to the group.

With obvious big names like Cameron Diaz and Julie Andrews as Princess Fiona and her mother, there are also some other great choices such as Amy Poehler as Snow White and Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel!

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Bring Vanellope In Officially

Disney Princesses Ralph Breaks The Internet

Vanellope Von Schweetz is one of the most relatable and loveable characters that Disney has produced. She is also rightfully a princess but it's difficult to know if she is officially recognized as one by the Walt Disney Company.

However, across this film she is officially brought in as a member of the club. Singing her own personal song to a puddle of water and carrying some of the same traits as the other princesses, this crossover serves as a way to add a brand new person to the princess roster.
