Raised by Wolves shares some similarities with Prometheus and the Alien franchise that are hard to ignore. With Ridley Scott's name attached to the breakout show on HBO Max, it's impossible not to. In fact, it seems that Raised by Wolves is following a familiar plot that's eerily like that of Prometheus.

Since the moment Raised by Wolves was announced, fans have speculated as to how it fits into Ridley Scott's other science fiction work. It's long been theorized that Alien and Blade Runner exist in the same universe, and that a rivalry between the Tyrell Corporation and Weyland Industries is responsible for how android technology evolves. In Raised by Wolves, androids have become highly advanced, including a particularly powerful and deadly model known as a necromancer. Mother is a necromancer reprogrammed to care for human children on the planet Kepler-22b.

In Prometheus, a prequel to the original Alien movie, it is discovered that an advanced race known as the Engineers is responsible for creating life on earth, including humans. Humans then create androids, including David who, in Prometheus becomes jaded with human behavior and inferiority and eventually bioengineers the "perfect" organism in Alien: Covenant. Raised by Wolves shares some similar themes in that Mother, an android like David, is at the heart of it all. She is also now pregnant with what may be a superior human/android hybrid race. On top of that, it's likely that there is some sort of super-intelligent progenitor responsible for the creation of the necromancers and possibly humanity itself that has come to be worshipped by the Mithraic as Sol.

Ridley Scott has explored androids and blurring the line between synthetic and natural humans both in the Alien franchise and in Blade Runner. This theme continues in Raised by Wolves, especially with the advanced emotions Mother has been feeling and her newfound ability to procreate. Prometheus centers around David, an android who wants to create organic life. In this way, Raised by Wolves appears to be following the same plotline as Prometheus, centered around Mother, who is now pregnant with flesh and blood life.

Raised by Wolves also follows the plot of Prometheus by exploring the idea of an advanced race being the creators of humanity and other life. In Prometheus, the Engineers are responsible for setting in motion the cycle of life that will evolve into humans and human society. Similarly, in Raised by Wolves, it's likely that a more advanced race created the necromancers. The origin of the necromancers is somewhat mysterious, but given their abilities, they seem far more complex than other androids created by humans, including Father, who is a standard service model. For this reason, some outside party probably had a hand in the development of the necromancers.

Either way, the necromancers appear to be the primary weapon that brought about the downfall of humanity on earth. When the Mithraic abandoned earth and set out in their ark to start anew on Kepler-22b, they left the necromancers behind. It seems they didn't have control over them or their actions. This may be because they were created by a race similar to the Engineers from Prometheus. If this is the case, they may have been purposely designed to destroy humanity, just as the Engineers intended to wipe out the humans on earth to start new. In Raised by Wolves, this very process appears to be happening as Mother births a new kind of life, although it remains to be seen whether or not a race like the Engineers will be revealed.
