A few leaks regarding Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season 3 & 4 have surfaced, further confirming a rumored Splinter Cell crossover. Players might be getting Sam Fisher as a playable Operator after all, which is something fans should be looking forward to.

Back in May, a popular leaker shared some inside information that an upcoming Season 3 Operator for Rainbow Six Siege would be a crossover character from one of the Ubisoft franchises. There wasn’t a specific mention of either Sam Fisher or Splinter Cell, although the sense of espionage mystery was fairly strong with the character in question. According to Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 roadmap revealed by Ubisoft, the upcoming Season 3 Operator was labelled as classified while all of the others featured exact nationality, which was yet another hint at Sam Fisher.

That being said, a Splinter Cell crossover has just received another confirmation. The latest datamined leaks come from Zer0Bytes_, who shared their findings with the Reddit community, and it appears that the next Operator is Sam Fisher – or at least someone who’s heavily resembling the famed spy. The character is called Scout, and he’s equipped with the Fisher’s signature weapon along with the night vision goggles hanging on his backpack. Gadget-wise, the new attacker uses some kind of sticky cameras that plant themselves into walls and can fire at enemy players, which is fairly close to what Sam Fisher was using back in his Splinter Cell days. While the resemblance is uncanny, the next Operator might not be the famed spy himself, but rather a fellow agent from Echelon since Fisher would be too old to join the action. The exact information is yet to be revealed by Ubisoft, but for now, here’s a comprehensive video covering all the recent leaks:

Introducing Splinter Cell to other established franchises is not something entirely new for Ubisoft. Previously, Sam Fisher was featured in Ghost Recon Wildlands as part of a themed DLC, and in a Ghost Recon Breakpoint adventure. To all fans’ delight, both times the spy was voiced by Michael Ironside. While the character was not playable, he was directly involved in Ghosts’ missions guiding them and providing them with backup. It is worth noting that Tom Clancy’s video games take place in a single universe, which makes crossovers believable and logical.

The upcoming possible crossover for Rainbow Six Siege might suggest that Ubisoft is preparing for a proper Splinter Cell sequel. There hasn’t been anything specific regarding the popular stealth franchise for years, although the French company has several times reiterated that it was interested in revisiting Sam Fisher’s adventures. Moreover, featuring the famed agent in other IPs would’ve been a total waste of time if Ubisoft wasn’t planning a bigger announcement. A series of crossovers might be paving the way towards a surprising reveal, and the upcoming Splinter Cell crossover in Rainbow Six Siege could serve as yet another step in that direction.
