UPDATE: Ubisoft has since tweeted out an updated teaser image for what Void Edge will look like. The tweet is embedded below; original story follows.

Rainbow Six Siege has unveiled its new update titled Operation Void Edge, and a Reddit user has leaked information regarding two new operators for it. Operation Void Edge is the first update for Year 5, and these two operators will be the first of six that will be revealed throughout the year. Year 5 begins on February 16th.

There have been several previous leaks that have suggested who the new characters for Operation Void Edge will be. Both characters will add brand new abilities to Rainbow Six Siege that will most likely shake up the way the game is currently played. The male character Oryx is reportedly a heavy attacker who will be able to charge through soft walls and stun other players in his path. The female character Yana, on the other hand, is a faster attacker who will be capable of controlling a hologram to deceive foes. Other leaks have suggested things like map bans and character reworks are coming with Year 5.

Reddit user /u/UbimanCZSK (via Windows Central) posted leaked artwork from the new update that shows what the two new characters will look like. The image aligns very well with what the previous leaks have stated with regard to Oryx and Yana. The male character in the image is ducked into a charging pose as particles of some material float behind him. The female character is surrounded by circuitry and other sci-fi looking effects. With imagery that suggests the previously leaked abilities, these characters could very well be Oryx and Yana.

Year 5 has proven to operate very differently from previous seasons. So far every year of Rainbow Six Siege has added eight new operators for players to play as, and the season pass has given players 600 credits to spend as they see fit. In Year 5 players will have two fewer operators to choose from and will not receive any credits with their season pass purchase. Several fans have been upset that the season pass costs the same amount of money as usual, but gives them less content than they are used to. This new year is also introducing a battle pass that unlocks cosmetic items and will cost 1,200 credits.

The fan response to Rainbow Six Siege hasn't always been positive. The game's continued insistence to push monetization has angered the fans who love playing the game. Despite that, players still seem to enjoy playing Rainbow Six Siege, as the amount of operators gives the game a large amount of diversity. While the response to some of the newer characters has been lackluster, Oryx and Yana might give Rainbow Six Siege the ability to get back in the good graces of its players.
