Update: Ubisoft just revealed the new Australian "Outback" map.

Update 2 (Feb 17): Post updated to reflect correct names/roles below.

In late 2018 leaks revealed the theme and setting for the next content update coming to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. Adding a pair of Australian operators, these leaks - and hints from within the game itself - are now confirmed with Ubisoft officially announcing Year Four Season One. It's titled Operation Burnt Horizon.

The two new operators hail from the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR). "One’s a stoic Attacker who’s just there to get the job done, and the other is a quick-witted Defender who’s in it for the guts and glory.," according to Ubisoft.

As for their names and gear, only the following is official but it 100% lines up with the leaks that we'll detail below.

Two old mates from way back, they’ve signed up with Rainbow to bring a little Aussie know-how to the other side of the world. This includes a new device that’ll keep roaming Defenders on their toes, and one that’ll leave Attackers at a bit of a loss.

Now, here's the leaked info (originally found on ResetEra) which claimed the next operators are called Mozzie and Gridlock and leaks and data-mining revealed they have the following gear:

  • Gridlock (Attacker) - She uses a webbed trap designed for dealing with roamers that damages defenders when they run into it (also creating noticeable noise).
  • Mozzie (Defender) - He can place a device that can capture attacker drones and give him control of them.

Here's the two from early leaked title screen art:

As for the location and new map, Australia was also teased directly last season in Operation Wind Bastion's new Fortress map (which introduced operators Nomad and Kaid) on a projection and players on the test server noticed right away, including u/Manysuchcases:

The Fortress map teases Australia as the next location.

As for the new map joining the rotation in Operation Burnt Horizon, it takes place at an isolated service station in the outback:

That doesn’t mean they’ve left the sunburnt country completely behind them, though – there’s a slice of the red desert coming with them. A high-stakes chase has ended in a standoff at a service station halfway between here and nowhere, resulting in a map that’s packed with twists, turns, and Australiana. Try not to get distracted in the gift shop or dream of sampling the national specialties available at the fast food counter. Your teammates will thank you.

Leakers who revealed some of the Australian info also claim that Year Four Season 2 will feature a map rework of Kanal instead of a new location. The full reveal of the operators and new map (and updates to the game) will come from the Rainbow Six Twitch Channel on February 17, 2019 during the Six Invitational in Montréal.
