Update (6/8/2021 9:50 AM EDT): Ubisoft has now officially revealed the new title of Rainbow Six Quarantine is Rainbow Six Extraction, and it's released a new trailer to accompany the announcement.

During its E3 2021 Ubisoft Forward event, Ubisoft plans to showcase Rainbow Six Quarantine while also unveiling the new name. Initially shown off at E3 2019, Rainbow Six Quarantine is a three-player co-op title delayed by Ubisoft multiple times. The first postponement of Rainbow Six Quarantine's release window came in late 2019, following the poor reception around The Division 2 and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, rumors began swirling about a supposed name change. Reportedly, Rainbow Six Parasite served as a possible contender, though Ubisoft quickly debunked the claim by referring to Parasite as a leaked placeholder title. It's not the only leaked bit of information regarding the new Rainbow Six, either. In March of this year, for instance, over an hour of gameplay footage made the rounds online. More gameplay clips have emerged in recent weeks, circulating on social media before Ubisoft managed to pull them down. Since Ubisoft's E3 conference is scheduled for June 12, Rainbow Six fans don't have to wait much longer to see the actual game in action.

Ubisoft shared its plans for this year's E3 showcase, providing an overview of what fans can expect from Ubisoft Forward. The pre-show, which kicks off on June 12 at 11:00 am PT, will boast news and updates for Brawlhalla, For Honor, The Crew 2, Trackmania, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft Forward itself starts at noon and will feature fresh details about Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, Rainbow Six Siege, and the next Rainbow Six installment. The wording of the publisher's press release suggests the formerly titled Rainbow Six Quarantine will officially receive a new name during the event, as well.

Allegedly, this isn't the first time in recent memory that Ubisoft has changed the name of a previously announced project due to circumstances beyond its control. Immortals: Fenyx Rising originally entered the public consciousness as Gods & Monsters; reports suggest a dispute with Monster Energy forced the French publisher to change course. Ubisoft, however, claimed the name change "reflect[ed] a creative decision."

Ubisoft Forward may also see the newest Rainbow Six adventure receive a firm release date. At present, the publisher has the title penciled in for the 2021/2022 fiscal, meaning it could launch anywhere between now and March 31, 2022.
