Over an hour of new Rainbow Six Parasite gameplay footage has been leaked, thanks to a mistake by a streamer on Facebook. For over an hour, one streamer accidentally broadcast the current technical version of Rainbow Six Parasite, revealing more information about the game than had been already revealed.

Rainbow Six Parasite is the placeholder name for the current build of the next update to Rainbow Six Quarantine, which was delayed in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19. Quarantine is a three-player co-op first-person shooter, where teams of players face off against a new breed of mutated alien parasites that have invaded humanity. These creatures take over human hosts and infect the surrounding environments, making them more deadly and challenging to defeat. Ubisoft began developing Rainbow Six Quarantine after the success of the Outbreak event in Rainbow Six Siege, inspiring the developers to make the event into its own spin-off.

While the footage shown in the Facebook Gaming stream was only the tutorial, much of the gameplay shown was entirely new. It was VGC who initially noticed the stream, who noted that the streamer had clearly forgotten the non-disclosure agreement they would have been required to sign with Ubisoft in order to be invited to play the technical test of Rainbow Six: Parasite.

In the opening simulation, which acts as the tutorial for the players to be introduced to the alien parasites currently invading the earth, players choose from a number of operators to play as. This is a carryover from Rainbow Six Siege, where players unlock different operators with unique skills and loadouts to play as. It is unknown just how different operators will be compared to Seige, or as Quarantine is technically a part of the Rainbow Six canonical universe if the same operators will be available. Alibi, Lion, Vigil, Ela, Finka, and Tachanka were all shown in the leaked footage.

The stream also gave us a first look at how the alien parasites will look in the game, as archaeans with bladed arms and glowing heads. Canonically these creatures are single-celled organisms that can survive in almost any environment, jumping into human hosts in order to evolve and further replicate themselves. There are also a variety of subtypes in the game, but none of these was shown in the hour-long footage.

Most of the basic gameplay was shown, with missions consisting of three players working through a level filled with deadly aliens. Players will need to gather intel and takedown nests of aliens, without alerting the majority of enemies in the area, or else the nests will spawn more enemies and a black goo substance that causes players to move slowly. If players manage to escape, they need to reach an airlock that acts as a temporary safe zone before the next segment of the mission. At this point, players can choose to continue to gather intel or leave via an extraction.

This footage was a big win for fans of the franchise, however bad it may be for the poor streamer who broke his NDA with Ubisoft – whose identity was clearly visible in the stream. They have been suspended for 24 hours for "cheating," but it is unknown if this is the entire extent of the punishment this individual will face.
