Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six To Be Helmed By John Wick Director

Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six movie officially moves forward after getting John Wick director Chad Stahelski. Paramount announced plans for a new action franchise starring Michael B. Jordan a few years ago that would see him play John Clark, a character made famous through Tom Clancy's books and future video game adaptations. Without Remorse was released on Prime Video in 2021 due to Paramount's concerns about the pandemic negatively impacting the film's box office potential. It was envisioned to be the first of two movies starring Michael B. Jordan's John Clark, with plans for a Rainbow Six sequel in the works from early on.

Now over 18 months after Without Remorse's release, Paramount has found a director for Rainbow Six in John Wick's Chad Stahelski. The news comes from THR as Stahelski is putting the finishing touches on John Wick: Chapter 4 and appears to be looking for a new action franchise to get involved with. While Without Remorse was ultimately released on streaming through Prime Video, the report notes that Paramount plans to release Rainbow Six exclusively in theaters. No release date is set at this time, nor are there any plot details or additional cast members around Michael B. Jordan.

How Without Remorse Set Up Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six Movie

Teaser trailer for Tom Clancy's Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan

A Rainbow Six movie was always part of the plans for Michael B. Jordan and Paramount, which is why it came as no surprise that Without Remorse directly set up the sequel. Without Remorse's post-credits scene saw Jordan's John Clark meeting with new CIA director Robert Ritter (Jamie Bell) about putting a new team of agents together. Ritter recruits Clark to lead a multinational counter-terrorist team that includes U.S., U.K., and NATO personnel. Clark agrees to take control of the team, which he wants to call Rainbow and help present the idea to the President. The tease of Clark's new Rainbow team is a direct setup for Rainbow Six.

The basic premise of Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six movie is established through Without Remorse's ending then. Plot details for the movie adaptation might not be confirmed beyond the basic Rainbow Six team focus, but Tom Clancy's book of the same name provides some likely clues. Clancy's Rainbow Six novel follows two teams under Clark's command as they encounter multiple terrorist attacks. It is only as they dig deeper into the seemingly unconnected events that they learn of an apocalyptic conspiracy to wipe out half of humanity. The plan is known as "the Project" and was created by environmentalist and biotechnologist Dr. John Brightling, who serves as the villain.

Whether Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six movie follows the same plot under director Chad Stahelski remains to be seen. What is all but guaranteed is that Michael B. Jordan and any other cast members will take part in some memorable action sequences thanks to Stahelski's involvement. The John Wick franchise helped turn him into one of the premiere action movie directors in all of Hollywood. Now the wait to see if Keanu Reeves joins Rainbow Six's cast begins.
