Although the PlayStation Showcase had many other popular announcements, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction received a new story-based trailer that gives a more in-depth look at its world, with footage showing off new cinematics and gameplay revolving around its characters. Being developed by an entirely new team at Ubisoft Montreal, Rainbow Six Extraction is also planned to be released in January 2022.

Previously titled Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, Rainbow Six Extraction is a brand new tactical co-op PvE experience set in the Rainbow Six universe, inspired by the well-established legacy of Rainbow Six shooters. Announced in 2019, the title involves the beloved operators from Rainbox Six Siege facing off against a mysterious threat revealed to be a breed of a mutated alien parasite. With 18 operators to choose from and 12 uniquely crafted maps, Rainbow Six Extraction allows players to take on the creatures known as Archaens while tasked with completing various shifting objectives with up to 3 other players.

As shared in a press release by Ubisoft and shown during the Playstation showcase, Rainbow Six Extraction sees Team Rainbow, the world's most elite squad, face off against the greatest terror their world has ever known, a lethal, mutating alien parasite that has spread against multiple regions of the United States. Though a lot of questions are still left unanswered about its story, the footage shows several operators including Sledge and Tachanka, with Ash, the group's leader narrating the events. Shown prior, Ash has recruited an elite global team of Rainbow Six Operators best suited to the task to form REACT (Rainbow Exogenous Analysis and Containment Team) whose objective is to head into preempted regions, gather intelligence within three contaminated zones, push back the Archaean threat, and extract the squad safely.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced in July that Rainbow Six Extraction was postponed due to Ubisoft Montreal needing more time on the title, after initially revealing that it would release in September. While there is a planned date for the title, it's dubious to see that the new tactical shooter doesn't have a specific release date. Though only a few months away, this has raised questions if it will be delayed once more or not, players however can expect Ubisoft to make a proper announcement before launch.

Set as a sci-fi spinoff of Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Extraction is planned to release next year for fans that are looking forward to playing a brand new Tom Clancy-branded property with a completely new direction. As its release date approaches, more information on the parasitic threat and its story development around the team's operators will be revealed.
