Lucy Hale is set to star in AMC's new crime drama, Ragdoll. Best known for her breakout role in Pretty Little Liars, Hale has earned an extensive list of television credits over her career. She most recently played the title role in CW's Riverdale spin-off, Katy Keene. Despite the series' premature cancellation, Hale was welcomed into the Archieverse. Though rumors of HBO Max picking up a sophomore season buzzed around, it seems the leading lady is ready to move on.

Variety reports that Hale will tackle a starring role in Ragdoll, a six-episode series for AMC. The show centers on a shocking crime case in which six people were murdered, dismembered and then sewn into one body, dubbed, "Ragdoll." Hale will play DC Lake Edmunds, a new recruit joining the already-established team of DS Nathan Rose and DI Emily Baxter on the case. The "Ragdoll Killer" torments the trio by sending the names of his next victims, which includes Rose.

The new series is based on Daniel Cole's novel of the same name. Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris of Sid Gentle Films Ltd. are set to executive produce. They're most known for helming the hit BBC America series Killing Eve, and will no doubt bring their dark and funny flare for crime content into Ragdoll. Freddy Syborn, who's written on Eve, will serve as the lead writer and executive producer. Production is slated to begin in the spring, with a projected premiere date later in 2021.

It's exciting to see Hale take on a different kind of role than she's played in the past. The talent, who first blipped the entertainment stratosphere by winning FOX's reality show, American Juniors, has mainly appeared in teen shows until now. Ragdoll will hopefully provide fertile ground for her to flex her talents.
