The movie adaptation of R.L. Stine's Fear Street seems to be moving forward, as the trilogy finds its stars. R.L. Stine may be most known for his children's horror novels called Goosebumps, but Fear Street was another popular horror series written by Stine. Goosebumps was more aimed at children, but Fear Street was a horror series written for teenagers.

News of a Fear Street movie has been scarce over the years. It was first revealed in October 2015 that Fear Street might get adapted for the big screen. While it still hasn't been revealed which books, if any, will be adapted for the movie, Kyle Killen (The Beaver) will be penning the Fear Street script for 20th Century Fox. Likewise, Leigh Janiak has signed on to direct the first film in what is thought to be a trilogy. Now, it appears that Fear Street has started to fill out its cast.

According to Collider, Kiana Madeira and Olivia Welch will be starring in all three of the Fear Street films as gay teenagers. Both will be playing teenagers in the 1600s and in the mid-1990s who are trying to maintain their relationship in the small town of Shadyside. Madeira is known for appearing in the sitcom Really Me and movies such as Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars and The Swap, while Welch is a bit more known since she's appeared on Modern Family and Agent Carter. 

While Fear Street looks to be coming to theaters in the near future, this isn't the first time Stine's work has been adapted for the big screen. In the 1990s, Goosebumps got its own TV show, but it wasn't until 2015 that the title made it to movie theaters. Goosebumps adapted several of Stine's original characters, but relied on a completely new story. The film did well enough to warrant a sequel, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, which was released just last year.

There hasn't been a lot of updates for the Fear Street movies since they were announced, but it's reassuring that the film is starting to form its cast. These rumored plot elements could also hint that Fear Street could be moving forward with a new story rather than purely adapting one of Stine's many Fear Street books. Now that the first film has found it's writer, director, and lead actresses, more updates surrounding Fear Street are likely to be revealed in the coming months.
