A new A Quiet Place 2 teaser and poster is released, with a trailer for the highly anticipated sequel set to premiere on New Year’s Day. Originally intended as a standalone movie, A Quiet Place was released in April 2018. Co-written and directed by John Krasinski, who also starred in the film alongside his real life wife Emily Blunt, the film focused on a family that desperately tries to stay alive in a world where monsters with extremely acute sense of hearing roam free. The film was a surprise hit at the box office, reaching more than $340 million worldwide on a budget that ranged between $17 to $21 million. A Quiet Place was met with acclaim by critics as well, who praised the movie for its incredibly effective sound design. More broadly, Krasinski’s ability to craft an often wordless atmosphere of anguish was noted by observers as well.

A sequel was quickly announced, with Krasinski eventually coming on board to both write and direct. According to The Office alum, Paramount rejected pitches from other writers and directors that were deemed to be too focused on franchise-building. Instead, Krasinski said, he was encouraged to craft a script that would fit into the world he already established. Emily Blunt would be reprising the role of Evelyn Abbott. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, who played the children in the first film, would also be returning. Cillian Murphy joined the cast. Brian Tyree Henry was attached to the project at one point, but due to scheduling conflicts, he was replaced by Djimon Hounsou.

Production on A Quiet Place 2 began in June of this year, with filming officially starting in July and wrapping up back in September. Fans have received a small inkling of what to expect, with a recent first look image confirming the movie won’t include an immediate time jump. A new Quiet Place 2 teaser and poster have been unveiled, which shed a little more light on what the much-awaited followup will look like, with a trailer dropping New Year’s Day. Check out the teaser and poster below.

The teaser is the same one that has been shown during screenings of Black Christmas. Now, a wider audience has a chance to get a glimpse of the sequel that will premiere in March 2o2o. For those who have seen the first film, the teaser and the poster both serve as an acknowledgement of A Quiet Place’s emotional third act without addressing it directly. Evelyn and her children are still in danger and still determined to survive.

We’ll soon find out if that setup makes for a worthy successor to what was a highly original horror movie. A Quiet Place didn’t worry too much about explaining its world, preferring to tell a story about familial bonds punctuated by scenes of unnerving terror. Given what Krasinski has suggested about being urged to continue the story in a way that would honor the world he created, there’s reason to hope that A Quiet Place 2 will be similarly satisfying.
