Update: Paramount has further delayed A Quiet Place Part II to April 23, 2021. Original article is as follows:

Yet another movie has been affected by the coronavirus, as director John Krasinski confirms A Quiet Place Part II has been delayed. The coronavirus aka COVID-19 has had a massive impact globally over the last several months. The entertainment industry is just one sector that's had to make accommodations in the name of public safety. These adjustments have increased in the last couple weeks as the virus made its way to the United States.

Numerous conventions have been either canceled or delayed, as gatherings of large groups become more of a concern. Additionally, with movie theaters closed in several countries, many studios are assessing what to do about upcoming releases. MGM made the surprising move last week of delaying upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die a full seven months to November. However, other studios, like Disney/Marvel and Universal maintain they won't push the releases of Black Widow and F9, respectively.

Now, A Quiet Place Part II joins those that have been affected, as Paramount has moved the movie off of its schedule, with no new release date known at this time. Krasinski shared this news on Twitter, seemingly suggesting the movie's worldwide release had been postponed. Check out Krasinski's tweet below:

Paramount then confirmed this news via a statement provided to Screen Rant, elaborating that the movie will be released at some point in 2020:

After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of A Quiet Place Part II. We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace.

TV show and movie productions have also been affected by the coronavirus. Upcoming Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Solider recently stopped filming in Prague, sending its entire cast and crew home. Mission: Impossible 7 did the same in Venice, though star Tom Cruise was reportedly not on location at the time. TV series like The CW's Riverdale have also halted production, in that show's case because a crew member came in contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson also shocked fans just yesterday with their announcement they had contracted the virus while in Australia for an upcoming movie.

Though fans are likely disappointed to hear about the release date delay of A Quiet Place Part II, they can take heart knowing that Krasinski believes it's the best choice. From a financial standpoint, the movie will have a better chance if it comes out after the coronavirus crisis passes. Plus, considering how quickly closings and cancellations have happened in the last week, there's a chance U.S. movie theaters could be shut down by the movie's original release date next weekend. As Krasinki said, this decision means all A Quiet Place Part II fans will be able to enjoy the movie at one time.
