Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe are set to return for A Quiet Place 2 along with Emily Blunt. Paramount found a surprise hit last year with the release of the John Krasinski directed and led A Quiet Place. The semi-post-apocalyptic film took away sound to amplify the horror and thrills that silence can generate, especially when any sound immediately gets the attention of deadly monsters. The movie grossed over $340 million worldwide on a $17 million budget and the movie rode the financial and critical success all year to remain part of the awards conversation.

A sequel appeared likely to come thanks to this acclaim, and it only took a matter of weeks for Paramount and Platinum Dunes to confirm that A Quiet Place 2 was in the works. However, with the attention Krasinski received for both his performance and direction, it was not clear in what capacity he would return. It was eventually confirmed that he was helping write the script of the sequel and it was just recently confirmed that he will indeed direct.

The news of his return as director also came with word that his wife (both on screen and in real life) Emily Blunt will reprise her role as Evelyn Abbott, and she won't be the only familiar face to return. THR reports that the two kids from A Quiet Place, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, are also in talks to return as Regan and Marcus, respectively. If their deals close, then A Quiet Place 2 will focus on the Abbott family once more.

This is a welcomed development for A Quiet Place 2, as it would be odd (and possibly tragic) to have Blunt return as Evelyn but not be with her kids. A Quiet Place ended with the Abbott family together (minus Krasinski) defeating one of the creatures in the  basement of their farmhouse. They also figured out how to harm the creatures through high frequency sound, and were getting ready for an attack by a few others.

As somewhat unsurprising as it may be, the likelihood of the main cast returning for A Quiet Place 2 is a tad more interesting given Krasinski's previous comments. He's said that he is more interested in the world than focusing on the same family over and over, so a compromise in the story may have been struck. If Krasinski does want to explore the other nearby families, then the sequel could potentially focus on the Abbott family helping equip their neighbors with the necessary tools and knowledge to survive and defeat these creatures. This could make A Quiet Place 2 more of an ensemble piece with new cast members possibly set to join Blunt, Simmonds, and Jupe. Whatever the case may be, hopefully more details on A Quiet Place 2 will come soon.
