Queen Charlotte has become a hit for Netflix, and its success is evidence for the next perfect Bridgerton spinoff. The prequel miniseries focuses on a young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) as she marries King George (Corey Mylchreest) and rises to power as the Queen of England. According to Variety, Queen Charlotte was the most-viewed title on Netflix the week it debuted, with 148.28 million hours watched. This accomplishment could lead to additional Bridgerton spinoffs, and Queen Charlotte has provided the perfect idea for a future prequel series.

In addition to being a success with audiences, Queen Charlotte has also been praised by critics, especially when it comes to the romance between Charlotte and George. Queen Charlotte does a great job of taking a deeper look into the backstory of Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte and detailing how George and Charlotte's relationship develops from animosity to true love. There are a few Bridgerton characters who appear as their younger selves in Queen Charlotte, and one of them in particular would be a perfect focus for another spinoff.

Queen Charlotte's Success Proves Young Violet & Edmund Need Their Own Bridgerton Prequel Series

The success of Queen Charlotte proves that Violet and Edmund Bridgerton need their own spinoff series. While a young Violet Bridgerton (Connie Jenkins-Greig) does appear in Queen Charlotte, she doesn't have a prominent role. With a Violet and Edmund prequel series, the backstory of Violet's character can be further explored. Edmund has been mentioned quite a few times in Bridgerton, though the origin of his relationship with Violet is still a mystery. It would be fun to see the development of Violet and Edmund's romance, especially how the two of them came to meet.

After Charlotte and George, Violet and Edmund would make the most interesting Bridgerton prequel series. Violet is an underrated Bridgerton character who's never gotten the spotlight she deserves because her children's love stories are the main focus. A prequel show would also give more insight into the character of Edmund, who is only seen during a flashback with Anthony where, in Bridgerton season 2, a bee sting leads to his death. A Violet and Edmund series could explain how the couple ended up falling for each other. Shonda Rhimes said in an Entertainment Weekly interview that Violet's love story is "complicated," and Bridgerton always delivers entertaining romantic drama.

Violet & Edmund's Romance Is The Biggest Missing Bridgerton Story

Young Violet Bridgerton in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Violet and Edmund's romance is a Bridgerton story that has yet to be told. In Queen Charlotte, the older Violet Bridgerton talks about the positives of marriage, alluding to her relationship with Edmund. There's no doubt that Lord Bridgerton influenced Violet's feelings on marriage, explaining why she encourages her children to marry for love. It would be great to have added context to the romances of the Bridgerton children, as Violet and Edmund's romance will doubtlessly influence how their children approach love. After seeing the children's love stories, it would make sense to see the origin of the romance that created the Bridgerton family.

A Violet and Edmund prequel would also be great because of the glimpses of young Violet's personality that are shown in Queen Charlotte. Violet Ledger is shown to be quite intelligent and questioning of society's rules, traits that her daughter Eloise also exhibits in Bridgerton. It would be fun to watch a headstrong young Violet on her romantic journey with Edmund. A prequel series would also be the perfect opportunity to give Edmund more of a personality and see how he and Violet play off of each other. Queen Charlotte has proved that a Bridgerton prequel can successfully work, and a Violet and Edmund series would make the perfect follow-up.
