Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story sets a release window, and it will be arriving sooner rather than later. A prequel to Netflix's massively popular series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will star Sex Education's India Amarteifio as a younger version of the titular monarch and chart her rise to power as Queen of the United Kingdom. Since being announced in May 2021, the Bridgerton prequel series has only received a few infrequent updates, with none indicating when the show might arrive on Netflix.

Now, a new image has surfaced revealing a release window for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

The news comes courtesy of a Bridgetown gift box shared by Meghan O'Keefe on Twitter, which includes the first official confirmation that Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story arrives on Netflix in Spring 2023.

Everything We Know About Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

As indicated by the gift box above, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will chronicle the titular monarch's rise to power and prominence. This mainly encompasses the story of the young Queen's marriage to a young King George (played by Corey Mylchreest). The union in the Bridgerton spinoff is not only a romantic story for the ages but one that also sparked a societal shift that shaped the competitive world of Regency-era London's Ton, which the Bridgerton family constantly grapples with in the original series.

India Amarteifio leads the cast of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story as the titular monarch alongside Arsema Thomas as a young Lady Danbury. While the prequel show's main focus will be chronicling these characters' younger years, it will also spend some time during the present day, with Bridgerton's Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh both reprising their roles as Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, respectively. Also returning from the original series is Ruth Gemmell as Violet (with Connie Jenkins-Greig playing a young Violet Ledger) and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley (with Sam Clemmett as young Brimsley.) One prominent newcomer includes Game of Thrones alum Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will be a limited series that consists of eight episodes written by Shonda Rhimes (who produces Bridgerton) and directed by Tom Verica (who helmed multiple episodes of the original show). Now that a Spring 2023 release window has been revealed, there is a much clearer idea of when the prequel series will be hitting Netflix. Bridgerton season 2 was released this past year and saw record-breaking viewing numbers, so expect Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story to premiere on the streaming service around the same time.
