Warning: SPOILERS for The Pursuit of Love.

Amazon Prime Video's The Pursuit of Love is the latest historical drama to utilize modern songs in its soundtrack and here's where to find every familiar tune. Written and directed by Emily Mortimer, The Pursuit of Love is based upon the 1945 novel by Nancy Mitford and stars Lily James as Linda Radlett and Emily Beecham as her cousin (and the show's narrator), Fanny Logan.

The Pursuit of Love's three episodes spans Linda and Fanny's lives from the 1920s to the 1940s. Linda, who has been sheltered and uneducated since childhood thanks to her domineering father Matthew (Dominic West), is increasingly consumed by her desire for love and romance. When Linda comes of age, her life in pursuit of her romantic ideals is in stark contrast to Fanny's, who watches from the sidelines as her cousin marries, divorces, and leaves her children behind as she absconds to Europe. Although their lifelong bond is tested, Fanny, "a settler" who was abandoned by her mother, known as "The Bolter" (Emily Mortimer), stands by her beloved Linda throughout her cousin's many trials.

The use of anachronistic music in period dramas has been happening for some time, and Pursuit of Love is good company. Bridgerton on Netflix also used covers and remixes of current music, but there have been several movies that blazed the trail, including Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby. The Pursuit of Love's choices of tracks are an eclectic mix of British, French, and American acts and its soundtrack is one of the show's highlights that lends a lot of emotional impact to the story.
