Peacock unveils the trailer for the Punky Brewster revival series, bringing back the original's mismatched shoes and laugh track. Starring Soleil Moon Frye, Punky Brewster ran on NBC for four seasons in 1984. Noted for tackling topical issues, Punky Brewster followed outspoken and precocious 7-year-old orphan Penelope “Punky'' Brewsters. In 2019, it was announced that Frye would reprise her iconic role as Punky in a sequel series. Now, Peacock has unveiled a look at the titular pigtail-sporting girl all grown up...kind of.

Peacock released a trailer for the Punky Brewster series that features the young heroine, now a single mother of three in her 40s. Stuck in the center of a chaotic lifestyle while juggling a career as a professional photographer, Punky tries to recenter her life after encountering a young orphan Izzy (Quinn Copeland), who reminds her of her younger self. Flanked by her best friend Cherie (Cherie Johnson), Punky navigates her complicated feelings for her ex-husband Travis (Freddie Prince Jr.) while sporting colorful Chucks, configuring online dating, and occasionally exclaiming, “Holy mackanole!” Check out the full trailer for Punky Brewster below:

Produced by Fyre and original series creator David Duclon, the 10-episode series joins the batch of popular properties from past decades revived on Peacock. The announcement of a Punky Brewster revival was met with mixed reactions, but the return of Fyre and the compelling storyline could make the series a hit for Peacock. Of course, the droves of fans who initially followed Punky’s adventures will have to tune in to Peacock on February 25 to see Punky Brewster back in action.
