Jon Bernthal shares his reaction to Netflix's The Punisher having a new streaming home on Disney+. First introduced in Daredevil season 2, Bernthal's take on Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, proved to be a big hit with fans of the show for his brutal approach to taking down criminals in Hell's Kitchen. The character would go on to get his very own show, The Punisher, which ran for two seasons and chronicled Castle's attempts to avenge the death of his family and eliminate the network of criminals in New York's underbelly.

Although The Punisher seasons 1 & 2 were popular with audiences and mostly liked by critics, the show was cancelled by Netflix - along with all the other shows in The Defenders universe - in a move that shocked fans. While The Punisher and the other Defenders series remained on Netflix for several years following the cancellations, it was announced last month that, come March 1, the shows would be departing their previous streaming home. After a few days in limbo regarding what platform they would land on, it was recently announced that Disney+ was adding the Marvel shows, becoming the new home for Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, Jessica Jones, and the rest of the Defenders crew.

After the official Twitter account for The Punisher shared the news that the show was now streaming on Disney+, Bernthal has a fairly straightforward but encouraging response, tweeting, "Good. Ole. Frank." The series star clearly still has a love of the character, and now, thankfully, The Punisher is once again available to be seen by fans. Check out Bernthal's tweet below:

Bernthal has previously gone on record about the strong connection he feels to Frank and the "deep, deep, deep meaning" the character holds for him. After Charlie Cox reprised his role as Daredevil for a brief Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo, many speculated that perhaps Bernthal and the other Defenders characters would also be welcomed back in some form. While a reboot of sorts of Daredevil with Cox returning is supposedly in the works at Marvel, there is no such word yet on whether The Punisher will be getting the same treatment.

Although Bernthal clearly still feels strongly about Frank and the show, the tweet does little to hint at what the future might hold for The Punisher. The actor has previously stated that, if his version of the character is to make a return in the MCU, it couldn't be a watered-down PG-13 version, and the show would need to retain the same darkness and brutality. This, of course, casts doubt on Bernthal's The Punisher MCU return, due to Marvel's focus on delivering family-friendly entertainment. At the very least, Bernthal's tweet shows that he's willing to continue supporting The Punisher on its new home, and that Frank still has a place in his heart.
