Marvel's The Punisher season 2 trailer reveals the return of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) in the Netflix TV show. Bernthal's Frank made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Daredevil season 2, where he was presented as a vigilante whose methods conflicted with those of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). However, the character was so well received - and already had a great deal of popularity thanks to the Punisher's history in the Marvel Comics - that Netflix ordered a spinoff. The Punisher season 1 premiered on Netflix in November 2017.

The Punisher season 1 finale saw Frank Castle and Billy Russo finally face off after much of the season dealt with Frank tracking down those responsible for murdering his wife and children - eventually learning one of those men was his best friend, Billy. After a brutal battle the saw Billy shoot Frank's ally Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) and the two men come to blows, Frank left his former friend bloodied and broken, with Billy's face severely injured. Afterward, Frank hung up his skull vest and went his own way. But The Punisher season 2 will bring him back to New York City and see him face off, once again, with Billy, who's become the villain Jigsaw - well, sort of.

Now, after Netflix released a previous Punisher teaser trailer and confirmed the season 2 release date, the streamer has unveiled the full trailer for the upcoming episodes. Watch the trailer and see the poster for The Punisher season 2 below.

In addition to Bernthal and Barnes, The Punisher season 2 also sees the return of Revah as Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, as well as Jason R. Moore as Frank and Billy's friend Curtis Hoyle. New characters joining The Punisher in season 2 include Giorgia Whigham as Amy Bendix, Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim and Floriana Lima as Krista Dumont. Plus, Deborah Ann Woll will reprise her Daredevil character Karen Page for The Punisher season 2. For the most part, the season 2 trailer focuses on Frank's dynamic with Amy, which replaces the buddy relationship between Frank and Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) from season 1.

The trailer for The Punisher season 2 also showcases a ton of action ahead for viewers, with Frank taking on countless antagonists at a time in multiple different locations. Further, the footage here promises plenty of blood to result from those fight scenes, both from Frank and those he's going up against. The Marvel Netflix shows set themselves apart from the rest of the MCU with their mature tones and bloody action, and it seems The Punisher season 2 will deliver on those aspects once again. That said, whether season 2 is as well received by fans and critics as season 1 remains to be seen. This trailer, though, certainly promises an action-packed season is in store.
