Looking ahead at The Punisher season 2, lead actor John Bernthal reveals that he would love to share some screen time with Daredevil and Jessica Jones if the situation arose.
Swinging a mallet at audiences late last year, The Punisher was the first live-action outing for Frank Castle on the small screen as the vigilante character joined the rest of the MCU. Hoping to follow the success of shows like Daredevil and The Defenders, the violent take on the anti-villain's origin was another big-budget addition to Netflix's streaming service. However, while Deborah Ann Woll turned up as Matt Murdock's assistant, there was no sign of the man himself - but could this be about to change?

Appearing at ACE Comic Con in Arizona, Bernthal was alongside Ebon Moss-Bachrach to talk about The Punisher and where it could go next. ComicBook.com reports that speaking during a Q&A, the star revealed which of the Defenders he would like to see on the show in the upcoming season 2:
“You know, I love Charlie [Cox]. I’ve worked with him before and I’d work with him again on anything in a heartbeat. He’s the reason I’m doing this. He brought me into this and his performance is what made me want to do it.”
He recalled that one scene had a chat between Castle and Woll's Karen Page about Murdock, but that it ultimately didn't make the final cut of the show. While a similar conversation could make it way into season 2, Bernthal also teased that he would love to take on the fiery temperament of Jessica Jones if a Daredevil cameo is off the cards:
“That being said, they’re all great. I’m a huge fan of Krysten’s [Ritter] too. She’s killer and I’d love to work with her as well.”
Fans of Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock may have been disappointed that neither appeared in The Punisher's freshman year, but that isn't to say they won't turn up in the future. Also, with The Punisher effectively built from Castle's season 2 breakout on Daredevil, crossovers aren't exactly out of the ordinary for the darker side of the MCU world.
Most recently, both Jessica Jones and Daredevil suited up for The Defenders, but is there room in the lineup for Punisher as well? Given that The Punisher season 2 will be sticking to production in New York, there is every chance that Castle could cross paths with Hell's Kitchen's most notorious resident or the ass-kicking Ms. Jones. Sure, New York is a big city, but a squad of crimefighting heroes can't be that hard to find, can they?
