The Punisher is not much of a team player, and he does not negotiate well with criminals. But when facing overwhelming supernatural odds in a Ravencroft under siege, Frank chooses to make a deal with a devil named Kingpin, agreeing to work together and take back the infamous maximum security facility from the forces of evil.

This Marvel version of Arkham Asylum is currently under seige by the Unwanted, a group of vampiric being seeking the journal of Jonas Ravencroft, the building's founder. The creatures believe his journal was buried among the foundations of the institute, and are prepared to torture and kill as many residents, physicians, and innocents in order to procure it. But they didn't count on Frank Castle or Misty Knight, as the Punisher and the now Wolverine-clawed Marvel cop slaughtered their way through their unnatural attackers. At one point the unlikely duo is overwhelmed and looking to go out fighting when their untimely death is called off with a barrage of gunfire and explosions. Unfortunately for them, their savior happens to be Mayor Wilson Fisk accompanied with an armored brigade including Ravencroft security members Taskmaster, Hobgoblin and the Scorpion.

In this concluding issue by writer Frank Tieri and artist Unzueta, Frank Castle wants to say thank you in the only way he knows how, which Taskmaster and others would gladly return the favor. This early mass funeral is stopped by Fisk who invites Misty, and by extension Frank, to join them in helping to take back Ravencroft from their common enemy. Although she's not thrilled of aligning herself with Fisk and the other villains, she tells Frank that they'd be crazy to turn down such a deal. If we saved a bullet for all the times that someone has called Frank Castle crazy over the years... we'd have a lot of bullets.

Punisher and Kingpin Team-Up in Ravencroft Comic

Frank has been in tight spots like this before, and his ability to survive regardless of injury to himself or others borders on superhuman and he treats all situations with the same lethal black and white execution style. Evil gets punished and innocence survives and he's shown extreme dislike to working alongside criminals, especially someone like Fisk who's been on his hit list for years. But desperate times require unorthodox methods and the brief cliffhanger of "will he or won't he" is resolved as Misty and Frank are seen turning the odds in their favor alongside Fisk and his forces although Frank clearly isn't happy about this temporary compromise.

In the end, the monsters lose and the so-called "heroes" are triumphant and everything is tied up so neatly, you'd know Fisk had to be involved. Fisk has a big press conference addressing the public where other primary characters are rewarded for their involvement, the bad guys are ignored and quickly swept under the rug and the clandestine organization monitoring the entire ordeal continues to plot and unravel their mysterious agendas. Of course, Frank Castle is nowhere to be found as the ever elusive Punisher returns to the wild, to regroup, plan, and prepare himself for whatever comes next. If you asked Wilson Fisk how does he sleep considering his brutal career as the Kingpin and being a high-profile target for vigilantes such as Frank Castle or Daredevil, he would probably say he sleeps just fine.
