Real or fake? In toymaking these days, it’s hard to tell sometimes. Hot Toys, a Chinese manufacturer specializing in detailed true-to-life pop culture figures, has pushed the artform of collectibles to a whole new level. We’ve seen the company take on popular characters in Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Comics, and now we’re getting a look at The Punisher.

The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, recently appeared on Netflix’s Daredevil, and no doubt thanks to the audience’s rave reviews, is getting his own standalone series. The show will follow Frank Castle as he uses lethal methods to fight crime under the vigilante name "the Punisher". In season 2 of Daredevil, Castle was driven to avenge the deaths of his wife and two children, who were killed by the mob for innocently witnessing a killing in Central Park. Castle retaliated by waging war on all criminals by means of conventional war weaponry.

The Hot Toys figure is set to ⅙ scale and is nearly 12 inches tall. It comes with 30 points of articulation (i.e. where the figure can bend and change position), and according to its product description, “It features a newly developed head sculpt, expertly tailored outfit, a wider range of weapons including a mini-gun, sniper rifle, a pistol and dagger, as well as a specially designed figure stand with backdrop. Furthermore, a damaged Daredevil helmet is included as a special accessory!” Take a look at images of the figure in the gallery below:

The Punisher has ten pieces of interchangeable hands including one pair of fists, one pair of open hands, and three pairs of hands for holding weapons. The costume includes a black colored leather-like coat, a black colored tee, a black colored bullet-proof vest with The Punisher’s skull motif, a pair of black colored pants, a black colored belt, and one pair of black colored boots. It also comes with several weapons options including a minigun, sniper rifle, revolver pistol, and a dagger with sheath.

The release of The Punisher as a permanent fixture in the Marvel Universe reflects the excitement of fans for the off-color hero’s series debut. The series was created by Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal), who will serve as the executive producer, and with top talent like Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), Amber Rose Revah (House of Saddam), and Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil, True Blood) confirmed, the show seems to be shaping up as another home run. There is not an exact release date set yet, but it has been announced to debut in 2017. With the Hot Toys release, it might be a hint that the series premiere is close.
