Deborah Ann Woll has confirmed that a romance between Karen Page and Frank Castle (aka The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal) has been discussed. This pair of Netflix-based Marvel Cinematic Universe characters first met in Daredevil season 2, before branching out into The Punisher season 1. Karen’s research skills have helped Frank out on numerous occasions during his revenge rampages, and many fans have speculated about a romance between these unlikely collaborators.

This potential romance may seem a little far-fetched, given the fact that Daredevil has pushed the idea of a romance between Karen and Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox) on numerous occasions. And, on top of that, there’s the small matter of Frank Castle being haunted by the brutal murder of his wife and kids. Plus, Karen wasn't even originally meant to appear in The Punisher. But, despite all of that, the idea of pairing these two up has still been suggested.

It was during an interview with Cinema Blend that Deborah Ann Woll revealed that the possibility of a Karen/Frank romantic story arc has been discussed. Although she stopped short of saying that a storyline like this will definitely happen in the future of the MCU, she made it clear that it is an idea that has been talked about already:

“There are conversations. I have to think about how much I can sort of reveal. Also just in terms of whether this is Jon's story to tell or my story to tell, you just want to kind of be respectful of everybody's contributions. Jon and I have certainly feel that there is room for a romantic story in there.”

Woll also stated that, while she and Bernthal were shooting The Punisher season 1, they “allowed for that possibility” while crafting their performances. They are not ruling out a romantic entanglement. They are leaving room for it. But, in Woll’s words, it will ultimately “be up to Marvel and the powers that be to see how far they wanted to take it.” A lot of viewers would surely be interested to watch this romance play out in full.

However, as it stands, Marvel’s future plans for Frank Castle remain unclear. A second season of The Punisher is yet to be ordered, and Woll has gone back to the Daredevil camp to film the third season of Marvel’s first Netflix series. If a Frank/Karen romance arc is on the cards, fans may have to wait a little while for it.
