A brand-new look at PUBG: New State has revealed new points of interest (POIs) within the mobile battle royale spinoff's playable Troi map. The mobile battle royale title, announced back in February 2021, will be a fresh take on PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds' battle royale gameplay. PUBG: New State is set in 2051, with the massive and futuristic map of Troi already being shown off ahead of the game's release.

PUBG: New State was originally announced in February and was slated for a release in late 2021, but the mobile game's development is not quite complete. Developer PUBG Corporation, and their parent company Krafton, recently announced that a closed alpha test will be held in order to polish the game. Players were able to sign up on June 6, and the alpha itself will run from June 11 to June 13. As a part of testing for the game, those involved in the PUBG: New State closed alpha will be asked to submit feedback and surveys about their experience with the game in its new state.

Anew promotional video for PUBG: New State gives a closer look at the Troi map and its many POIs. Throughout the video. PUBG Corp. Publishing Director Brian Corrigan highlights several important several locations spread around the sprawling arena. The Exhibit Hall and Mall POIs are massive open-air structures that provide ample cover while dropping into combat, while the Laboratory features claustrophobic hallways that force players into close-quarters combat. New mechanics, such as a high-speed train that zips players between POIs, were also mentioned by Corrigan. The 8x8 Troi map was apparently built using new lighting and rendering technologies for the developer, creating a more visually impressive environment than what can be found in PUBG Mobile.

While mobile gamers are no doubt looking forward to PUBG: New State, the original battle royale that started it all is still receiving continued support in 2021. The recent PUBG 12.1 update included a large number of significant changes, with particular emphasis being placed on overhauling the desert map Miramar. The level received improved lighting and textures along with items from other maps such as jammer packs and parachutes. PUBG's 12.1 update also added a new weapon, the Lynx AMR, as well as improved bot behaviors in several maps. Additionally, the game's developer also recently stated that two new PUBG maps will be added before the year's end. One map, codenamed Tiger, will be based on Korea, while the other map will focus heavily on exploration.

PUBG is an extremely influential series, having helped to jumpstart the popularity of the now prolific battle royale shooter genre. With PUBG: New State, developer PUBG Corporation is looking to bring the game into the near future while also utilizing the best technology available today. Its Troi map not only stands to deliver enhanced graphics and textures to mobile platforms, but it will also try to revolutionize the franchise formula with new gameplay mechanics and more ambitious POIs.
