Psych 4 Movie May Be Right Around The Corner, According To One Star

With three successful films to date, Kurt Fuller says a Psych 4 movie may just be right around the corner. Created by Steve Franks, the franchise began with the eponymous TV show centered on Shawn Spencer, the son of a former police detective who uses the skills his dad raised him with to solve crimes as a fake psychic with his childhood friend Burton Guster. Initially ending after eight seasons in 2014, Psych would come back with 2017's Psych: The Movie, the first of five planned sequels.

Screen Rant recently caught up with Fuller for an exclusive chat on his role in the Night Court revival, during which he was asked about a potential Psych 4. The series star seemed largely confident in the chances for another sequel, even reflecting on a recent conversation he had with James Roday Rodriguez in which his co-star and executive producer is "playing things close to the vest." See what Fuller shared below:

It's interesting because I was just texting with James Roday yesterday, and he is playing things close to the vest. I don't know anything, but I honestly think there's going to be another one. I really do. I know it's moving in that direction. But it's really up to NBC. I really think the public is clamoring for one more Psych movie. Believe me, nobody is getting in the way of it, including NBC. It's just got to be right. Everybody's got to be available, and [the list] goes on and on. But if I had to bet, I would put my money on there being another one. You heard it here first!

What Plotlines Does Psych 4 Have Left To Explore?

Though not yet officially announced by NBC, Peacock or the creatives behind the franchise, the chances for a Psych 4 seem high. Around the time of the first movie's release, Franks indicated his desire to make five sequels to the 2017 continuation and citing the Fast & Furious franchise as an inspiration for how he would keep the movies feeling fresh. The films themselves have offered a similar variety to the Vin Diesel-led movies, with Psych 2: Lassiter Comes Home feeling like a mix of supernatural and murder mystery and This is Gus moving away from the typical formula.

Even with the vaiety of tones, however, the question on may fans' minds is what plotlines are left to explore in Psych 4. The most recent film saw both the birth of Gus and Selene's son, along with their marriage, while the original saw Juliet and Shawn finally get hitched after years of will-they-won't-they flirting and rocky relationships. Considering the two have yet to have any kids of their own, a future sequel could see them finally begin building a family of their own, which in turn could affect Shawn and Gus' crime-fighting.

While audiences await further updates on the next film, they can revisit the entire Psych franchise streaming on Peacock now.
