Psych 3: This Is Gus is streaming exclusively online, bringing back Santa Barbara and San Francisco’s best (and most unconventionally efficient) detectives - here's how to watch the movie. The original series, which aired on USA Network from 2006 to 2014, followed fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer and his reluctant best friend Burton “Gus” Guster, who freelance their “gifts” to assist Santa Barbara PD’s homicide unit. As Shawn’s shenanigans continue to make it difficult to keep his cover from detectives Carlton Lassiter and Juliet O’Hara, his will-they-won’t-they relationship with Jules makes his position far more complicated.

This Is Gus is the third installment of Psych’s movie sequels, which brought the beloved franchise back after being canceled by USA in season 8. Psych: The Movie premiered in 2017 on USA Network, taking place three years after the series finale, but with no real maturity for Shawn and Gus. The new movies now largely take place in San Francisco, where Shawn, Jules, and Karen relocated after Psych’s series finale, and where Gus eventually moved to be closer to his best friend. The success of Psych: The Movie garnered a sequel, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, which premiered in 2020 and saw Gus finding the love of his life and the old gang investigating the suspect that shot Lassiter and gave him a stroke. Psych 3 picks up nearly one year later, with Shawn investigating the background of Gus’s fiancé Selene before their baby is born.

Just like Psych 2, Psych 3: This Is Gus will be streaming exclusively on NBCUniversal’s Peacock beginning on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Along with Psych 3, the past two movies and entire TV series are available on the streaming service for a proper rewatch. Since Psych 3: This Is Gus is a Peacock Original, it will only be available on this service to streamers. Thankfully, Peacock has an option to watch certain original content - including Psych - with its free subscription (with ads), making it more accessible to those who don’t subscribe to Peacock Premium’s paid no ads plan.

Since Psych 3: This Is Gus is a Peacock Original that is streaming-exclusive, audiences won’t have to worry about watching it online within a certain time frame before going to theaters-only like Peacock's Halloween Kills streaming allocation. Like Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, Psych 3 will be available indefinitely on the service, making it easier for viewers to rewatch their favorite scenes and catch the subtle details like Psych’s hidden pineapple. As the franchise continues to be expanded, audiences can expect future Psych content to also stream exclusively upon premiere on Peacock. The only materials that may be subject to change are Psych: The Movie (2017) and the original TV series, which are USA Network property and fall under Peacock as NBCUniversal’s subsidiary content.

If Psych 3 proves to be a streaming success for Peacock, fans can expect several more movies in the making. Psych creator Steve Franks revealed to EW that he wanted to make at least five more movies following Psych: The Movie’s premiere, meaning best friends Shawn and Gus could return at least three more times after This Is Gus. With James Roday Rodriguez (it was always there!) and Dulé Hill also serving as executive producers and writers on Psych 3: This Is Gus, it seems like the Psych team is dedicated to continuing the series with future Peacock collaborations.
