Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales continues the story of Insomniac's universe, giving Miles his chance to finally shine as a hero. Miles plays quite differently from Peter Parker, mostly due to his Venom Powers and Camouflage.

Insomniac's universe is interesting as it now features both Peter and Miles as full-fledged heroes working alongside each other. It creates a ton of potential for what Insomniac can do with the inevitable Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5. With that in mind, Spider-Man 2 could go a step further by introducing yet another Spider-Person into the mix.

Three playable characters would add a ton of variety to Spider-Man's sequel, and could create some interesting story options on top of that. Here's how PS5's Spider-Man 2 could introduce a third character.

Spider-Man 2 Should (and Could) Add Gwen Stacy

Gwen Stacy in Into The Spider-Verse

Introducing a third Spider-Person would significantly shake up the dynamic of Insomniac's universe, especially if Peter and Miles don't initially know if they're an ally. Gwen Stacy is the only major Spider-Man character that hasn't been so much as mentioned in the PS4 and PS5 game. Even small characters like Eddie Brock have a mention in the games, but not Gwen Stacy. This means that Spider-Man 2 would be the perfect time to introduce the character, especially if she's brought into the mix as an already-experienced Spider-Woman. This is especially true considering the threat that's likely going to face Peter and Miles in the future.

All signs point to Venom, one of Spider-Man's most dangerous foes, being the next villain of the series. On top of that, however, it's very possible that Norman Osborne could become Green Goblin, putting the heroes up against two immensely powerful villains. That's not even considering any other villains that might pop back up, as Miles Morales shows Kingpin is still up to no good and even hints at the creation of the Lizard. Gwen Stacy showing up against Venom would especially make sense, as in comics Gwen eventually bonds with the Venom symbiote to regain her powers. Insomniac has shown that they don't follow narratives that have already been established, but they'd obviously put a twist on the Gwen-Venom relationship.

On the gameplay front, Insomniac has already done a fantastic job of differentiating Miles and Peter. Miles' Venom powers and Camouflage make him play totally different from Peter's standard moveset, and that variety could be applied to Gwen as well. It'd make sense for Gwen to have an even larger emphasis on gadgets than Peter, and this could make her a wholly unique character. Switching between three different characters would give the sequel a ton of variety, and could eventually open the door to co-op multiplayer.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is currently available on PS4 and PS5.
