According to reports, PlayStation 5 continues to dominate in the UK; in fact, the console "almost" outsold all other platforms on the market combined in the month of July. Despite ongoing supply constraints, the PS5 has continuously proven itself a powerhouse on the sales charts, quickly becoming the fastest-selling console of all time.

The latest data shows the momentum may not come to a halt anytime soon. Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed that PS5 had reached 10 million units sold worldwide as of July 18, 2021, outpacing the sales of every other piece of PlayStation hardware before it. Software sales for first-party games aren't too shabby, either. PS4 and PS5 title Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales crossed 6.5 million copies, the publisher divulged. Meanwhile's Insomniac Games' PS5 exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, managed to move approximately 1.1 million units within just over a month. And Housemarque's roguelite adventure Returnal topped 560,000 in global sales.

July 2021 saw PlayStation 5 dominate in the UK yet again. According to word from Head of GamesIndustry.biz, Christopher Dring, PS5's UK sales for the month of July resulted in it selling "almost" as many consoles as every other platform on the market combined. As noted by Push Square, the latest system from Sony managed to accomplish such a feat despite the unrelenting stock shortage on new-gen hardware. Christopher Dring relayed the news in the following Twitter post:

During an earnings call this past February, Sony Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki said the company hoped to sell an astounding 14.8 million PS5 console's by the end of 2021. Such a bullish expectation seemed out of touch to some, particularly considering the aforementioned stock shortages. Yet, the 10 million units sold figure and other data indicate Sony's prediction may not be too far off the mark.

Since the console's holiday 2020 release, three major PS5 exclusives of note have hit the platform - Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Given that Gran Turismo 7 and the new God of War are confirmed as cross-gen titles, there's currently no word on when the next PlayStation 5 exclusive experience will hit store shelves. Horizon: Forbidden West remains the at the top of many a PlayStation fan's wishlist, though. However, it, too, has an air of mystery around it since rumors suggest Sony may delay the project to 2022.
