A new batch of recently-released photos provides a closer look at the PlayStation 5’s size, attachment cables, and base. Sony's new console has been wowing fans with its unique design and striking black and white color scheme since it was finally unveiled back in June, and many have noted that the new system will be the biggest PlayStation console in history.

There is actually a perfectly good reason for why the PS5 is so huge, as the extra space is needed to accommodate the extreme levels of heat generated by the machine’s cutting-edge components. This includes the PS5’s highly-lauded Solid State Drive processor, which will allow the system to produce visuals that give even current high-end gaming PCs a run for their money. However, this will of course result in a very large and very heavy system, and now players have a closer look at all of the PS5’s different components right out of the box as well as how they all scale against each other.

Early this morning, Roberto Serrano shared several pictures of an unboxed PlayStation 5 console on Twitter. These images, coming from the FCC, also show the round, black base that comes with the console, a rear view of the DualSense controller, and the HDMI cable that will be used to connect the system to a TV. Serrano also posted model and certification numbers for all of these different components in subsequent posts, and confirmed that the PS5 is being manufactured in Taiwan.

It won’t be long before players can size up the new PlayStation 5 for themselves, as the console’s price and release date of November 12 was finally revealed during the blockbuster PS5 Showcase earlier this week. However, it may be difficult to snag one early, as online pre-orders ran out almost immediately after they first went live, breaking major retailers like GameStop and Amazon in the resulting chaos.

Still, the PlayStation 5 is a visually impressive console, and to see it unboxed in such a candid manner adds to the excitement of its eventual arrival and gives fans a closer look at its various angles and components. Finally getting a good look at the often-unseen console base is also fascinating, with the small black disk matching well with the smooth, curvy machine that towers over it. Players will finally get to see the PlayStation 5 in all of its large and heavy glory for themselves when the console finally launches on November 12.
