It looks like PlayStation 5 could be getting an officially licensed console bundle and it seems Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is going to be at the forefront of the team-up. The latest game from developer Insomniac Games, which releases later this week, is going to be one of the biggest PlayStation 5 titles this year. It seems Sony wants to capitalize on its PS5 exclusive title by providing a console alongside it, so gamers without a PlayStation 5 can jump right into the action. Sony is likely looking to grab a few extra bucks alongside restocks of its already completely sold-out console, so it's further enticing gamers with a physical copy of the latest adventure with Ratchet & Clank.

PlayStation 5 sales are ramping up and Sony is making some killer profits. By the end of June, Sony is expected to break even on production costs, which will make PlayStation 5 systems profitable for the company. This achievement took only a little more than half a year, which is unheard of so close to a major console launch. With the combination of a heavy-hitting list of soon-to-be PS5 and PS4 games, Sony is looking at a very successful second half of the year. It’s possible that to entice gamers to the PS5 side, Sony has decided to use console bundles once more, coaxing players with a popular franchise from Insomniac Games.

First reported by Video Games Chronicle, French news site StationOfPlay claims that Sony will release a PlayStation 5 console bundle, including a DualSense controller and a copy of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The leak comes in the form of an image of the bundle, listed at €569.99, or USD $694.07. The tweet with the image claims that the bundle will launch on Friday, June 11, the same time the standalone game is set to release. The potential bundle was originally reported by the news site on June 2, after the PS5 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart bundle was added to the product database for Boulanger, a French retailer.

While it’s likely that Sony would bundle together what could be its most popular PS5 game this year alongside its next-gen console, there has been no confirmation from the company as of yet. As the launch gets closer, it’s certainly possible that Sony will announce the bundle, especially as mid-June marks the beginning of E3 and Summer Game Fest events. The site claims there will be between 10,000 and 12,000 of the bundles available in France, combined with the delivery of standard consoles arriving at the end of June.

Considering that PlayStation 5 consoles are turning a profit for Sony so close to its launch, the gaming company is likely going to milk it for whatever it’s worth. With more gamers on the console, there are more players to buy games, subscribe to PS Now and PS Plus, and interact with the community to pump profits sky-high. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart could be the perfect game for an additional boost to sales, especially since it is a PS5 exclusive title.
