Sony has announced all of the streaming apps that will be available on the PlayStation 5 when it launches this November. There’s less than a month until the release of Sony’s next-generation console and the company recently showed off the PS5’s new user interface, which features a sleek new design and several new features that make the experience of jumping in and out of games on the console almost seamless.

Apart from the user interface, Sony has also made some interesting changes to some of the console’s features that were previously present in its previous systems. This includes such as the revamp of the PlayStation trophy system to now include more rewards, such as profile pictures and other rewards. Of course, there are some major improvements as well, but some of the most exciting news stems from returning features and apps.

In a new post on the PlayStation Blog, Head of Global Partner Development and Relations Phil Rosenberg detailed the streaming apps and services that will be accessible on the PS5 at launch. Gamers can now look forward to Apple TV, Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, Twitch, and YouTube appearing on the platform. Some of the streaming apps will feature dedicated integration with the PS5, such as the ability to play songs on Spotify in the background or the option to broadcast and share gameplay on YouTube. The post also mentioned that other streaming apps are also set to be available on the console in the future, including Amazon Prime Video, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock, and more.

Streaming apps on the PS5 will be accessible through the console’s dedicated Media space, removing the need for console owners to download the apps through the PS Store. According to the post, people will be able to switch between the PS5’s dedicated Game and Media spaces easily and quickly while the new Control Center will allow users to easily control music playback on the console. Lastly, the new and previously unveiled Media Remote accessory for the PS5 will be available at the console’s launch and will be capable of powering on the PS5, control media, adjust volume and power settings of compatible televisions, and will be equipped with dedicated buttons for Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube.

The PS5 having several streaming apps already available on the console when it releases definitely gives early adopters just another reason to be excited about the console’s release. Having the streaming apps easily and readily available on the console will make it easier for the PS5 to integrate itself into the owner’s home entertainment systems. Sadly, those who are planning to purchase a PS5 in Southeast Asia may have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on Sony’s next-generation console as rumors of a delayed launch to 2021 have surfaced.
