Sony has unveiled that players will be able to use a new feature known as Game Presets on the PlayStation 5, allowing them to automatically set options for individual games. With the launch of the next-gen console just around the corner, more news is slowly emerging about it. There's been plenty of information about the features that won't be included in the system, along with the limitations of the solid-state drive (SSD) that acts as the console's storage solution and the lack of support for 1440p resolutions.

The fact that the PS5 has an helpful new option that remembers and automatically implements players' individual preferences will be welcomed amid some negative stories about the hardware, as a number of reports have suggested that the PS5 may have an overheating problem - much like the one the PS4 suffered from. The issue could be widespread, as even video and reports of PS5s overheating in the wild have already gone viral, but there's always the chance that the units in question (mostly display demo units) may simply not be getting adequate airflow. However, the high-performance components may also be responsible for causing the system to become hot, which could spell disaster with parts and units already spread so thin due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PS5 will have preset options available to users that will allow players to quickly choose settings for multiple games, shown off by Sony in one of several pre-launch videos recently posted to YouTube. In footage showcasing the recommended settings for the next-gen console, there's a mention of Game Presets. Sony's explains that the tool allows players to “start new games with your preferred settings, such as difficulty and control options." It appears as if the presets will also work with subtitles, audio options, and choosing whether to play in performance or resolution mode, all handled automatically to get players into games more quickly.

In other PlayStation news, it has emerged that Godfall will actually only be exclusive to the PS5 for six months, despite being advertised as a console exclusive. Although the looter-slasher will release on PC at the same time as its launch on Sony's new system, it was expected to be exclusive to PS5 in terms of consoles. That no longer seems to be the case, with a new trailer suggesting that the game could come to Xbox Series X|S next year.

The addition of Game Presets for the PS5 could be a big time saver for many players. It would mean that users don't have to tweak the settings every time they open a new game, with the console remember what type of options the player typically uses. The tool could be especially useful for those who require certain accessibility options, such as subtitles or enhanced audio.
