It's been revealed that the PlayStation 5 will allow players to share games on another console for free through a new system, even if the system is not connected to the internet. The next-gen system is set to launch next week, meaning that lots of new pieces of information are being revealed as the launch approaches. Sony has already confirmed that the new system will not support 1440p resolutions and the fact that third-party solid-state drives (SSDs) will not work with the PS5 when it initially launches.

Earlier today it became clear that the PS5 will also have a handy new tool to remember player options for multiple titles. Game Presets will store settings that are used across multiple titles. This can include things like difficulty choices, whether to enable subtitles, or whether the game should be run in performance or resolution mode. However, users will still be able to tweak settings in individual games, with Game Presets acting as a quick way to set up a title when it first launches.

Sony will allow players to share games on the PS5 in a similar manner to the PS4, although the process will now be simpler. Thanks to a tool called Console Sharing and Offline Play, users will be able to grant access to their entire library of games to anyone using the same console, even if that particular system is currently offline. According to Stevivor, once a PS5 has had Console Sharing enabled in the settings, the console can then be used to play all downloaded titles while the owner can continue to use their games as long as they sign in to their PSN account. Only one PS5 can have Console Sharing enabled at any one time but from the video below, it appears that this option can be toggled as often as a player likes.

The revelation that game sharing will still be possible on the PS5 follows news that users will be able to log in to their PSN accounts across multiple PlayStation generations at the same time. According to a new report, players can access their accounts on up to two PS4s while also being logged in on a PS5 at the same time. Players will be able to play games from the same library as long as they are connected to the internet.

Game sharing has become a popular way for players to get access to more games than would otherwise be possible. While it has been possible to access another player's library on current consoles, Sony is seemingly making the process far easier with the PS5. This will be welcomed by players who will be able to play even more games if they can persuade their friends and family to enable the option.
