PlayStation users might have just gotten an early look at October's free PS Plus games, if a recent leak is accurate. This information mirrors last month's leak touching on September's PS Plus games which included titles like Hitman 2. That leak turned out to be correct, but this information has yet to be confirmed.

PlayStation Plus, or PS Plus for short, is Sony's online gaming subscription service available for the PS3, PS4, PS5, and PS Vita. Everyone subscribed to this service gets access to online multiplayer, while PS4 and PS5 users get special access to a handful of free games each month. These free games are made available on the first Tuesday of each month, with the games for the following month being officially announced by Sony on the last Wednesday of each month. Speculation about what each month's free games will be typically runs rampant long before they are revealed, and periodic early leaks are not uncommon. These leaks can come from a number of different sources, with Sony itself accidentally leaking this August's free PS Plus games a few months back.

It looks like the October 2021 PS Plus lineup might have been leaked this time, according to a recent report by Eurogamer. French gaming forum Dealabs--which was the same platform that posted last month's correct PS Plus leak-- alleges that October's free games will include PGA Tour 2K21 and Mortal Kombat X for the PS4, while PS5 players will get to enjoy Hell Let Loose. PGA Tour 2K21 and Hell Let Loose are both recent releases, while Mortal Kombat X has been around for a few years now.

This potential lineup looks promising for PlayStation fans, as it offers a wide variety of diverse gaming experiences; Hell Let Loose is an action-packed tactical first-person shooter, Mortal Kombat X serves up more of the gruesome and satisfying combat that the iconic series is known for, and PGA Tour 2K21 offers highly polished golf simulation gameplay for sports fans. If this leak turns out to be accurate, it should land well with PlayStation owners.

On the other hand, some might see this lineup as somewhat disappointing, especially considering some of Sony's previous efforts to make smash hits like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection available for free through the service. This October is looking to be a strong month for video games in general, with long-awaited AAA games like Metroid Dread and intriguing indies like Solar Ash slated for release in the next few weeks, so even gamers unsatisfied with PlayStation's free lineup should have their hands full.
