PlayStation fans rejoice, as Sony has confirmed that August’s PS Plus titles are Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockdown and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. The company is back to offering two free games this month after dishing out three in July to mark 10 years of PS Plus, which came off two other shooters being offered in June – Star Wars: Battlefront II and Call of Duty: WWII.

As COVID-related quarantines have forced many to stay inside the prospect of free games has continued to popularize services like PS Now, Xbox Game Pass and Switch Online. Each service offers free games for players to stream, with new titles coming every month, like Game Pass offering Red Dead Redemption 2, and Donkey Kong Country once again becoming all the rage since landing on Switch Online. Sony is even passing the savings onto players, this month offering $10 in credits to PS Plus members.

As those services step up their game with fan-favorite and nostalgic titles, Sony seems to be looking to do the same after offering NBA2K20, Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Erica earlier this month. Even June featured a pair of heavy-hitters, and, for August, Sony is rolling out the debut of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockdown, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has remained a popular title since its timed PlayStation-exclusive release back in March. Players who have yet to get into either of these titles will be able to do so for free with their PS Plus subscription when they become available on August 4.

Sony also announced they will be offering another free online multiplayer weekend, starting August 8 and ending August 9. Gamers can use that weekend to jump into Fall Guys, the quirky-looking, 60-person battle royale game whose recent beta became one of the top titles on both Twitch and Steam. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t need as much hype around it, being the original a sequel to the wildly popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and continuing the series’ dominance in the first-person shooter market. The latter game itself got an acclaimed remaster, and while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s remaster hasn’t achieved the same popularity or level of acclaim, it’s still given fans a reason to jump back into the campaign and check out the updated visuals.

As more and more players look to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to unveil new titles to stream, players can probably expect bigger titles to start becoming available every month, even if for a limited time. Offering titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered could do wonders in bringing in new players and keeping returning ones playing, while including Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout offers a new title that could break out thanks to a month of free downloads. Basically, much of next month will be a lot of shooting and punching.
