Sony has announced that May 2021's PlayStation Now lineup will feature Nioh, Jump Force and Streets of Rage 4. PlayStation Now is a cloud gaming subscription service that allows members to stream and play a large library of games. New games are added to the service every month, with the library currently consisting of over 700 titles.

Sony's PlayStation 5 has been a massive success, and has already established itself as the best-selling console of the current generation. Since its launch in November 2020 the PS5 has sold more than 7.7 million units, far surpassing the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S. The console's current-gen performance, roster of console-exclusive titles and immersive DualSense controller have all been highly praised since release. To further increase the console's value, Sony recently announced that the popular messaging system Discord will be integrated into the PS5 in 2022. The partnership was recently struck after similar negotiations between Discord and Microsoft failed earlier this year.

This month's newest additions to the PlayStation Now system have been revealed, and all three games are focused on intense combat. Nioh is an action role-playing game, often compared to FromSoftware's Dark Souls franchise, which was released in 2017 and developed by Team Ninja. The game takes place in a fictionalized version of Japan in 1600, combining Japanese history and mythology. Meanwhile, Jump Force is a 2019 crossover fighting game which combines characters from various manga series such as Naruto, Dragon Ball and One Piece. Battles are played between two players, with each controlling a group of three characters. Finally, Streets of Rage 4 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up title, developed by Dotemu, which serves as a sequel to the original trilogy released in the mid-90s. The title, released last year, maintains the series' classic gameplay while employing a unique art style. Jump Force will be available until August 2, 2021, while Streets of Rage 4 will be available until November 1, 2o21. All three titles will be on offer starting May 4.

While PlayStation Now features a huge selection of games for players to experience, the service has received some recent criticism. All three of the titles added to the service in April were locked to the games' PlayStation 4 versions, even though current-gen PlayStation 5 upgrades are available for each of them. This means that those who access PlayStation Now through the PS5 are forced to play last-gen versions of these titles, and are unable to take full advantage of the console's power.

PlayStation Now is an excellent service for avid gamers who want a huge selection of games to try out and play. This month's additions to the service include popular titles like Nioh, as well as more niche releases like Jump Force and Streets of Rage 4. With more than 700 title available through PlayStation Now, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
