MGM/Propworx Official 'Stargate' Prop and Costume Auction

Propworx Stargate Auction

Do you have a little money to burn this weekend and want to collect a piece of Stargate history? Propworx has partnered with MGM to provide a comprehensive auction for Stargate fans. Massive props and pint-sized memorabilia are available in a live auction this weekend for all to enjoy.

We covered the Propworx Iron Man auction at C2E2 in Chicago. A number of items sold well beyond $5,000, but twice as many sold for under $200.

Propworx continues to establish itself as an elite organization for fan auctions. Whether you have $100 or $10,000, there is something for you to purchase. Propworx's last two major auctions brought in huge numbers with Iron Man and Star Trek memorabilia. The Stargate auction book looks even bigger and includes everything from weapons to Serpent Guard helmets.

Access to the auction is free, so you can simply sit and watch online. If you find the urge to actually buy something in your price range (or out of it) the option is always available - and, if you live in the Seattle area, stop by the Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum to join the auction in person.

Propworx Stargate Props and Costumes Live Auction

The collection of items is so large Propworx has split the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis catalog into two auctions - the second will take place in 2011. The first two-day event will provide an unprecedented amount of Stargate props and costumes.

"Over 850 lots of props, costumes, production artwork, concept drawings, and set pieces will be on display Friday, September 24, culminating in the auction on September 25 - 26. Most notable among the lots is the Lot 51: SG-1 Travel Stargate used during location shooting of Stargate SG-1 and in the second season of Stargate Universe. This huge prop is made of fiberglass and mounted on a welded steel frame and features working lights behind the chevrons and is 22 feet tall."

You can access the auction at Live Auctioneers and prepare for the big show by perusing the catalog at Propworx or Stargate Artifacts. There is also a hardcover collectible book that turns out to be just as exciting as anything in the auction - a PDF is available on the Propworx website.

In November, Propworx will hold a live auction of Kevin Smith collector's items. We'll let you know when that time approaches. For now, unload that savings account and turn your house into Stargate Command.

Are you planning on participating in the auction? What props or costumes do you want in your home?
