Mysterious (And Creepy) New 'Prometheus' Images

A diagram of the 'Prometheus' starship and a series of new images from the film serve to create more mystery and intrigue for the Ridley Scott film.

Recent stills and images from this summer's Prometheus have offered fans of Ridley Scott's science fiction work a few more glimpses and teases of the characters, lore and tech of the film, but the story remains a mystery.

Twentieth Century Fox held an event in London recently where they premiered 20 minutes of footage from the film and from that preview came a few more mysterious new images, animations and a detailed diagram of the Prometheus starship featured prominently in the Prometheus trailers thus far.

First up is the Prometheus ship from Weyland Corp which the crew uses to travel from Earth to the mysterious planet discovered from ancient star maps found on ruins here on Earth. It's conceptual art with six key components labelled, each likely called out for a specific reason related to scenes in the film.

HeyUGuys also attended the event, raving about the footage they witnessed, and later posted three new stills from the film, along with three animated images - one of which is very disturbing.

The three stills are included below along with additional close-ups of the most interesting parts of the two images featuring alien architecture, including a creepy design on the ceiling and the large statue that looks designed after a human head.

The other images are stills taken from the animated images; one featuring a holographic layout of the alien horseshoe-shaped ship discovered on the planet; one featuring what appears to be an alien star map lit up; and last but not least, one featuring some sort of small creature embedded in someone's eye - something likely found on that planet. It hurts me to even think about that scene.

Science fiction doesn't get better than this and the images alone succeed in getting us thinking, theorizing and asking questions.

Prometheus is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green. It hits 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters June 8, 2012.
