Mob Entertainment's Poppy Playtime multiplayer spinoff title, Project: Playtime, has missed its announced release date due to server issues. Project: Playtime is the developer's first multiplayer title and was due to see players teaming up as they return to the Playtime Co. factory to uncover more of its mysteries and face all-new toy monsters, such as the recently revealed Boxy Boo.Mob Games had previously announced a December 6 release date for Project: Playtime with a first-look trailer last month, but a tweet from the official Project: Playtime Twitter account at the end of the day confirmed that the developer would be missing its release date. The announcement cited "server backend issues" as the reason the title wasn't running and stated that the programming team had been working non-stop to get the game into players' hands as soon as possible. There is currently no word on how long these issues will take to resolve, or when Project: Playtime's new release date will be.Related: Project: Playtime Already Fixes Poppy Playtime's Biggest Problem

Project: Playtime's Unexpected Delay Has Led To A Mixed Response

The announcement has divided Project: Playtime's fanbase, with players understandably annoyed after waiting an entire day for the title to launch before the developer issued a statement. Some fans referred to Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach's buggy launch when saying they'd rather the developer worked on fixing the title rather than releasing a broken or unfinished product, and understood that there is the potential for more error considering this is MOB's first multiplayer title.

Other fans have been vocal in their criticism of the developer's time and project management, commenting on the Twitter announcement. One of these comments pointed out that Project: Playtime's release window was "December 2022" until some very recent trailers specified the date, and that the title should have been thoroughly tested to pick up on these issues prior to any official release announcement being made.

Although fans are understandably disappointed by the delay, it is unclear exactly what server errors MOB Games has encountered when trying to release the Poppy Playtime spinoff. Hopefully, it won't be too long before players get to face Project: Playtime's Boxy Boo and the other new terrors it has in store as the developers have made it clear that they are working to resolve the issues as soon as possible.
