Since the letter is addressed to the writer's mother, it might be the case that players won't be taking on the role of a former Playtime Co. employee this time around.
It's likely that Project: Playtime will have some big Poppy Playtime lore reveals. Players have found possible assets for Project: Playtime hidden in the files for Poppy Playtime Ch. 2, including multiple colored player models and hand symbols for the GrabPack, which seems to play another key role in gameplay. All of the GrabPack hands hanging in the teaser image for Project: Playtime might imply that the players are not the first group to attempt to find Playtime Co.'s secrets, but they might be running through the factory before the former employee in Poppy Playtime arrives.
In regard to when Project: Playtime may be set, the letter is dated 1991 - the year Mommy Long Legs toys start to be advertised - and some workers are recorded talking about the company's charity work with orphans.
