Prince William’s meeting with Olivia Colman about The Crown  "didn’t go well." The Oscar-winning actress apparently had an awkward run-in with the next in line for the crown regarding her ability to play his beloved grandmother.

The royals have always been a staple of the British Empire, holding up centuries of traditions and pride for the British people, dating back more than 2,000 years. The Monarchy became the talk of the town when Diana, Princess of Wales, sought to be a better public figure and embrace her people. Her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were inseparable and kept out of the public eye to try and live as normal a life as possible. The two famous brothers performed most of their royal duties side by side and enjoyed picking on one another - as siblings do. With Netflix’s show, The Crown, set to premiere its third season later this month, anglophiles are curious how the royal family feels about the series that portrays their life.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning female monarch and is a proud staple of her country’s success. In the thirds season of Netflix’s The Crown, Olivia Colman will play her royal highness, and she recently found out that the Queen’s grandson, Prince William, is not a fan at all. Us Weekly reported that the actress and the Duke of Cambridge chatted while on The Graham Norton Show on November 8, saying, “It didn’t go very well.”

Colman revealed that she had met Prince William while at a dinner party, and he graciously asked her what had been the newest project that she was working on. But before the Oscar winner could reply, the prince stepped in and said he knew what she was doing, as the news of her part had been reported on. Excited, Colman asked him if he watched the show, and he replied with a flat no. The British actress also said that even though Prince William may not have been a fan of the show, he still was charming and very nice to speak with.

While the Oscar-winner said she did not have much to do to prepare to play the 1970s version of the Queen, she did have to have a movement coach as she needed to get her royal walk down. Fans were thrilled to be told the premiere date of the Emmy-nominated show, as it takes the show in a bold direction with a brand new cast. Even though Buckingham Palace has never agreed to approve any content for the series, fans can not get enough of the royal gossip, especially if they're tired of the Meghan Markle drama. There is a rumor, however, that the Queen herself watched the first season and enjoyed it, so the show can’t be too far off from the truth.
