According to the same source that leaked the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake months before it was officially announced by Ubisoft, there is also an additional Prince of Persia game currently in development that will reboot the franchise. The Prince of Persia series has been running for several decades, although it has taken a bit of a backseat in recent times. Instead, Ubisoft has been focusing on bigger open-world hits, like the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series.

That trend changed this year, however. After months of speculation, Ubisoft confirmed that it was remaking Prince of Persia: Sands of Time at its Ubisoft Forward event in September. While the remake’s release has been confirmed for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in January 2021, there is a belief that it may be coming to other platforms, as well. Now more rumors have started swirling with regards to the Prince of Persia series, but these new leaks allude to an entirely new Prince of Persia game being currently developed by Ubisoft.

Redditor Mr_Aryan44 translated some key info shared by Indian YouTuber Lazy Assassin from a Hindi-language video, in which he states that "Ubisoft is working on a completely new PoP game that won't be a remake.” The translation goes on to say that this game would include completely redesigned graphics, something that the Sands of Time remake does not have, and that it will “reboot the series.” Don’t expect this rumor to come to fruition any time soon if it ever does, though, as Lazy Assassin goes on to say that the release of this elusive new Prince of Persia game will not come out until “probably 2023 or 2024.”

Prince of Persia The Sands Of Time Remake Sand

While this could be hearsay and should be taken as such until something official is confirmed by Ubisoft, it is worth noting that it was Lazy Assassin that correctly leaked the news of the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, three months before it was announced. This adds a certain, if very lenient, amount of credibility to his claims.

Until anything else comes to light about Ubisoft's supposed reboot of the Prince of Persia series, fans will at least have the chance to relive the classic Sands of Time game next month. So long as no one playing uses the Dagger of Time to take everyone back to the start of 2020…
