After a stressful year they deem "turbulent," Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan needed a "reset" to heal. With 2020 sparking a brand new decade, the time to reflect couldn't have come at a better time, even if they could have done without the negative experiences that inspired it.

Though their union has been fairly bumpy from the get-go, 2019 wasn't especially kind to either Harry and Meghan. As a result, they've been represented as rebels in the Royal Family, going so far as to upset the Queen herself and abandoning her over Christmas in exchange for spending time with Meghan's family instead. This past year, while the Royal Family was struggling through a scandal concerning Prince Andrew's friendship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Harry and his older brother William's differences were said to have thrown a sizable wrench in their relationship, while Meghan was making every effort to deal with relentless paparazzi. Now, with a new year and decade beginning, the couple has decided to reevaluate their lives.

According to Us Weekly, an unidentified source explained that Harry and Meghan are making some necessary efforts to "reset and spend quality time as a family," prompted by an objectively "turbulent year." Though their specific approach to 2020's mental and emotional course-change wasn't revealed, it'll be coming off what appears to have been a reflective holiday vacation on Vancouver Island in Canada with their 8-month-old son, Archibald Mountbatten-Windsor (aka Archie).

While Harry and Meghan practice family distance for the time being, Prince William and Duchess Kate appear to be taking the opposite approach. Along with their three children - George, Charlotte, and Louis - the royal couple spent the holidays with the Queen in England. In fact, Princess Charlotte even made headlines on Christmas when she was photographed curtsying her grandmother. It may not have been a powerfully positive enough moment to fix any longstanding problems surrounding the family, but it certainly didn't hurt.

However Harry and Meghan decide to take on 2020 with their new reflective approach, it'll no doubt set an encouraging foundation to the seemingly unending drama that's shrouded the Royal Family. Can their distance potentially stir up even more drama than what they're leaving behind in 2019? It's possible. But repeating oneself and expecting different results is the path to insanity, as Elbert Einstein pointed out. So, for what it's worth, they may be shaking up the royal establishment, but their intentions seem to be in a good place.
